The Shrine is nestled on over 100 acres of God’s Country in the Mississippi River Valley. In addition to the many beautiful chapels, statues, gardens, and devotional areas, the Shrine has a full service cafe and gift shop. The Shrine is open daily, there is never a charge for visiting, and the public is welcome.
The Mississippi is joined here by the Black and the La Crosse Rivers at a scenic bend. A wide walkway leads through the park and several hundred yards down to the Community theater and pair of blue bridges connecting to Minnesota.
The Pearl features a homemade ice cream parlor, confectionery and coffee house, all within Pearl Street West---- a historic walking mall. The Pearl Ice Cream Parlor & Confectionery is located in the Vincent Schwarz Building, built in 1874, and spanning 205-207-209 Pearl Street. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the oldest commercial buildings in the city of La Crosse.
