God’s Timing
Summer of 2001 – Joe’s friends Joe and Amy want to introduce him to the girl next door, but they move away before this can happen.
Fall of 2008 – Joe attends a Fall Fest at his friend Chad’s church where he trades glances with a woman there, but they don’t have a chance to meet. He asks Chad about her the next week at work.
Winter of 2008 – Beth’s friend Jena asks Chad if he knows of any single men to fix her friend Beth up with. Recognizing her as the woman Joe asked about from the Fall Fest, Chad suggested Joe. It turns out that Beth pointed Joe out to Jena as well. But a meeting is never arranged.
Spring of 2009 – Joe reaches out to Beth on Facebook and asks her out. The first time he picks her up he sees that she lives right next door to where Joe and Amy lived back in 2001…he realizes that Beth is the woman they wanted to fix him up with seven years earlier! But, the timing wasn’t right and they only date for a few weeks.
Fall of 2023 – After fourteen years, Joe starts noticing Beth’s recent Facebook posts and starts wondering whether they would have worked out if the timing was different. Not being able to get her off his mind, he’s wondering if God is leading him to look her up.
Then, as Joe is sitting at the traffic light at Dressler and Whipple he feels like, instead of turning right and going the shorter way home, God is leading him to drive straight ahead down Glenwood by Beth’s house to maybe have a chance meeting…Then, as the light turns green…he scolds himself “Joe! Don’t be a stalker!” He says a prayer for Beth, turns right and goes home…
The next Sunday Beth “randomly” shows up at Joe’s church.
Fall of 2024 – Joe asks Beth to marry him. She says yes ❤️
