Walk around the place where we met! Highlights of campus include the Chapel, Roesch Library, the big tree by Albert Emmanual Hall, the funky looking tree on the right side of Marycrest Hall, Kennedy Union, the South Student Neighborhood, and Stuart Hill
Explore the free museum where we had our first official date! Open from 9am-5pm, this museum has 4 hangars worth of airplanes, missiles, and more. Make sure to check out Jake's favorite plane (the SR-71 Blackbird) in hangar 3, and the C-17 outside (featured in movies like Transformers, Iron Man, and Iron ManII)!
The Dayton Metroparks a great for an easy hike or a leisurely stroll! There are a 18 free parks and more associated trails. Highlights include Cox Arboterum and Wegerzyn Gardens for some beautiful flowers, Riverscape in Downtown Dayton has a lovely accessible path along the Great Miami River, or Sugar Creek and Hills and Dales for some tree-covered hiking.
If you are looking for a place to walk and cool art, Aullwood Audobon Center and Farm has trolls! Made by Thomas Dambo, the same creator of the trolls that were at the Morton Arboretum, the three trolls and the trolls nest are very fun to visit. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 65 and older + active duty military.
Support some of the best small businesses around! Second Street Market is an indoor/outdoor farmers market open Friday-Sunday. Luna sells everything a plant mom could ever want. Heart Mercantile has just about any Dayton souvenir or general knick knack you could ever need, plus there are always hilarious quotes on their chalk sign outside. Reduce Reuse Refillary is perfect for the essentials you forgot (but want to stay eco-friendly to replace).
The Greene is great for a bite to eat or stores to walk around and waste time in. Highlights include Books and Co., Agnes and Orson, and Puzzles Plus. This is also where Beth's first post-grad apartment was.
About 45 minutes Southwest of Dayton, Jungle Jim's isn't just an international market... it's an experience. In the international section there are more than 70 countries represented, they have a giant block of cheese known as 'The Big Cheese', and there are the classiest restrooms you'll ever seen in the beer and wine section. This grocery store is so big it even has tours!
If you're going to be in town for a while, consider driving to Cincinnati! Only an hour South of Dayton, Cincinnati is a beautiful city where we have spent a lot of time. See Fiona the Hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo, walk along the Ohio River at Smale Park, or watch the Reds play at Great American Ballpark!
