Q + A

Where is Alpena, Michigan?

Alpena is a charming lakeside town in northern Michigan, nestled on the shores of Lake Huron. It’s about 4 hours from Detroit and 5 hours from Grand Rapids. If you’ve never been, you’re in for a treat — it’s cozy, scenic, and full of small-town magic.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

All wedding events will take place outdoors. The reception will be fully tented. While August weather is typically lovely, we recommend being prepared for cooler evenings or unexpected rain—think layers and comfortable footwear!

What should I wear?

The dress code for the wedding day is summer formal. Think lightweight dresses, suits, or polished separates in breathable fabrics. Since events will be outdoors, opt for comfortable shoes and bring a light layer for cooler evenings. Friday will be casual, but it’s still an outdoor gathering—so dress comfortably, and be prepared for the elements.

What time is everything happening?

Join us Friday evening at 7:30 PM for drinks, light bites, and live music to kick off the weekend! The ceremony will begin on Saturday at 5:00 PM at Presque Isle Cider Farm, followed by dinner & dancing. Please arrive 15 minutes early to get settled and enjoy the setting!

Are kids welcome?

Absolutely! We’re excited for this to be a family-friendly celebration, and we can’t wait to see your little ones having fun right alongside you.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We’ve got you! Please let us know on your RSVP, and we’ll make sure you’re taken care of.

I read the travel page and still have questions. What should I do?

No problem! Our amazing wedding planner, Rachel, is happy to respond to any travel-related questions (rachel@sincerelyginger.com). Looking for pre-wedding Michigan road trip ideas? Bethany is your go to person!

Are Ubers available in Alpena?

Alpena is a small, charming town, and while Uber does technically operate here, availability is not guaranteed. There may only be a handful of drivers active at any given time, especially in the evenings or on weekends. If you plan to rely on Uber, we recommend checking the app early and giving yourself extra time in case no drivers are nearby. We strongly encourage guests to use the wedding shuttles, rent a car, or coordinate rides with friends to ensure smooth travel throughout the weekend. We’ll also share details on any additional local transportation options as we get closer to the big day.

DO YOU HAVE A WEDDING REGISTRY?

We don’t have a traditional registry. We are so grateful to share in this moment with everyone—especially for those traveling from all over the country (and world!)—and your presence truly means the most to us. If you feel moved to make a gift, we’d be honored if you considered a donation to one of our favorite organizations: Room to Grow or Food Bank for New York City.

Room to Grow is a three-year program that provides critical support to families raising babies born into low-income circumstances in NYC and Boston. They provide parents and caregivers with essential baby and toddler items, strategies and support to promote their children’s development, and connections to community resources that can meaningfully expand their support network.

Driven by their mission to empower every New Yorker to achieve food security for good, the Food Bank For New York City harnesses the collective power of their network of food providers, partners, and volunteers to activate the right resources, supports, and expertise across the five boroughs. Their work with 800+ soup kitchens, food pantries, and campus partners provides immediate and reliable access to food and nutrition education, while their economic empowerment programs give people the tools and know-how to improve their financial wellness.
