His Story:

It all started when she first walked into bible study and I immediately turned my head! There was a ski trip coming up and was hoping she would come on it! Lo and behold she did! The whole time we skied together and got to know each other more and more. I purposefully fell just in case she didn't notice me going down the hill. After the trip, there was an awkward length of time where I just didn't know how to talk to her and just motioned "skiing? skiing?" Over time, her roommates and mine would get together and hangout. Allowing me to get to know her better and better. Talking to her was effortless and being around her felt so right and easy. When I asked her out, I got so nervous that I actually didn't even actually ask her out... I just ended up saying how I felt and that she didn't have to tell me how she felt in the moment and after all that rambling she had to ask me if I was asking her out #awkward. We still debate whether going to Andy's Custard or Blue Sushi was our first date but regardless, first dates can be nerve wrecking but it was effortlessly easy. We laughed and smiled so much to the point where our cheeks were hurting. From that moment, I've enjoyed still getting to learn more about how caring and loving Bethany is and will continue to get to know her till the end of time.

Her Story:

It was a cold, Thursday in February when I decided to try out a new church small group. I was talking with some people after the group ended, and they mentioned a ski trip that was happening in a few weeks. They said, "oh yeah, Dan's organizing it!" When they said his name, he looked over and smiled and waved. In that moment, I was like "oh he cute" (in my head of course - gotta play it cool). I went home and told my roommates about the cute guy at small group that was organizing a ski trip (and of course about all the wonderful Bible reading that happened at small group too).

I did indeed decide to go on the ski trip. I felt like I was in a hallmark movie because I got to hang out with Dan almost the whole time - talking, laughing, and riding all the ski lifts together (and watching him fall a few times ;)).

As Dan mentioned, it did take us a few months to figure out how to talk to each other like regular human beings after the ski trip. I do recall one time during that time period though that he group-me direct messaged after small group and told me he liked one of the comments I had made. I was watching a TV show with my roommates when I got the message and literally jumped off the couch and screamed "HE MESSAGED ME."

That summer, Dan asked me to play on his beach volleyball team. It was during that time that I started get to know him better and noticed the compatibility of our sporty and competitive energy. The more times that I was able to talk to Dan one-on-one, the more I really started to fall for him. He amazed me with his thoughtful questions and gentle listening, and he made me laugh harder than anyone. I was most definitely anxiously awaiting for him to ask me out. Hehe. And when he did... it was a very easy yes.

Dating Dan was/is so much fun! He puts so much thought into our time together and our connection is something that I will always treasure. I knew he was one for me though because of the way he continued and still continues to draw me closer to Christ. I'm so excited to continue Dan and I's story into the rest of our lives. <3
