We met in 2019. Bethany had just moved back to Colorado after travel nursing, and Vinny had been living in Denver for a few years at that point after moving from Ohio. We met at orientation for our graduate program, but if that wasn’t enough of a hint from the Universe, Bethany happened to start working in the same ICU as Vinny that same week.

Our first date happened July 15, 2019, almost five years to the day of our wedding. Bethany raised an eyebrow at Vinny’s order of two scoops of plain vanilla at Bonnie Brae, a short walk from Vinny’s apartment at the time. Gathering napkins and water for the two of them, Vinny completely forgot about actually paying for their orders, leaving Bethany to further question her decision to go on such a date as she paid the tab. She stuck it out, and things looked up as they went hiking, joined a kickball league, and took their first trip together. So well in fact, months later, when Bethany asked Vinny to define their relationship, he responded that they had been in one for the past six months.

The pandemic came around during our first year together, and thankfully, despite spending the majority of our time together, it brought us closer. Soon after completing a travel nursing contract together in California, Vinny and Bethany moved in together. Since then, we have graduated from our Masters programs together, started our new jobs as Nurse Practitioners, moved into our home, and acquired the most perfect baby (dog) ever, Bruno. We are so thankful for all of the good in our relationship, our friends and families, and the future we have ahead of us.
