It was in June of 2021. I had decided to go to church camp with the youth group that I had just joined the week before. So there I was, just out side of Montgomery AL, surrounded by kids I really didn’t know. It was just after service, and we were all circled around preparing to pray. Conveniently, this very cute, very tall guy ended up standing next to me. As we were all joining hands to pray, he stopped. He looked at me and said “Oh, my name is Micah, by the way.” I giggled and said “I’m Bethany.” He told me he wanted to introduce himself so I didn’t have to hold hands with a stranger. That’s when I knew I liked him.
Camp came to a close, we returned home, and life moved on. I soon learned, that Micah worked at Publix at the time, and suddenly I found an interest in grocery shopping there over Walmart.
Time passed, as we would talk back and forth at church on Wednesday nights. Then one Wednesday our youth group was going to the ice skating rink. Before, at church we would talk briefly but not a whole lot. But that night I was trying to skate and found myself falling, I was no where near one of the barricades. Conveniently Micah was skating by me and I quickly said “Hey can I hold your arm?” Before he could really say anything I did anyways. After that we talked the rest of the time there. He wouldn’t pay much attention to his friends who were trying to pester him. He listened so sincerely. After the youth group left, him and some friends wanted to find a plays at the warf that had coffee. They started walking there and I unlocked my car to drive home. He asked “Aren’t you coming?” I felt so happy. I walked there with them and the whole time we were talking. We talked about stupid things and important things. After that night I knew I wanted this boy to be my boyfriend. The next few Sundays and Wednesdays we talked a lot. Finally, he asked me on a date the following Sunday. I thought about it for the rest of the week, until the day came. We went to G.T’s on the Bay after church, some shopping, and then mini golf, (where he let me win though he won’t ever admit it). We hung out from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and I didn’t want the day to end. He opened every door and drove me everywhere. He was the kindest guy I had met. After he dropped me off at my car, I sat there and thought about the day, that’s when I knew. I loved him.
