Bethany and Derek met–of course–at Christian Student Fellowship, the University of Kentucky's premiere dating hotspot (it's rumored that 93% of couples that get married from UK meet at CSF). Derek (despite being older) went with his friend Blake to his Shift group, which he was co-leading with Bethany.

It started when Derek asked Bethany to breakfast. He picked her up and took her to First Watch on Richmond Road. What happened was only the worst breakfast ever. It was over the next day. Bethany moved on to other men. Derek wondered how he let a girl so perfect slip through his fingers.

They remained just friends. They dated other people. All hope was lost.

Then fall of 2014 happened. Derek got a mysterious text and they started talking and taking walks around "the island" (which isn't really an island). Derek did the unthinkable–he asked Bethany to breakfast. Again. Where did they go? First Watch.

The risk of a lifetime worked out. They became boyfriend and girlfriend. It was all uphill from there (mostly). They met the parents. Hung out with siblings, and aunts, and uncles. And kept enjoying life together.

Then Derek decided it was time for another walk around the island. So he used mind control and inception to force Bethany to suggest taking a walk there.

It worked.

And this time, he brought a ring. She said yes. Their wedding truly will be the long expected party.
