Stephen and Ian have been friends since day one of Kindergarten. From being eighth grade science fair partners (placed fifth in the state), to being roommates senior year of college, they’ve been through quite a lot together. It’s taken years of hard work for Betsy and Ian to create the man Stephen is today. All of that hard work was worth it when Stephen casually surprised Ian at work that he had proposed to the most caring woman in the world. Ian would like to wish Stephen and Betsy a lifetime of silliness, joy, and love. Ian works in account management at Fanimation in Zionsville, IN and was inspired by Stephen to go back to nursing school Fall 2018.

Kat and Betsy met three days before freshman year at Georgetown Visitation's annual pre-season volleyball camp. While Betsy made varsity, and Kat's parents bought her a blank cake since they were so convinced she wouldn't make the team at all (she made JV), their friendship still blossomed into a ten year saga of dance parties to "When I Grow Up," actual parties in which Betsy promised Kat she'd meet "boys," and trips to K Mart to buy the Jersey Shore soundtrack. Needless to say, it's been a wild ride. Kat is BEYOND excited to Yas Queen her best girl all the way down the aisle, and can't wait for a night full of wedding shenanigans in Indy. Currently, Kat lives in Boston, MA, where she is pursuing a masters degree in Social Work and a masters degree in Theology, and eventually hopes to get her PhD in the history of The Bachelor/Bachelorette.

Henry is the 2nd oldest out of the Grateful Eight and likes to think he is the glue that keeps the family together. From wiping Stephens bottom as a young lad, to taking care of Jimmy and Robert’s children, Henry really outdoes himself. Henry once met Stephen on a foggy day back in the 1960’s. They shared a bond of free love and drugs, and always enjoyed a good crossword puzzle. Henry and Stephen run a Spartan Race every year, yet despite being 5 years older, Henry continues to kick his butt. I am very excited to be apart of your big day and wish you the best.

Aubrie and Betsy met on bid night. Upon realizing that Betsy would always listen to Aubrie's cynical tirades and that Aubrie would always provide Betsy with logical advice (solicited or not), the two immediately forged a lifelong friendship. After college, Betsy moved in just blocks from Aubrie's parents and became the 4th (and favorite) Carroll child. Aubrie now lives in Charlottesville, VA and is a tired medical student at UVA. When she comes home to Indy, Betsy is usually already there waiting. Sometimes she brings Stephen too, which is nice (lol).

Claire and Betsy met freshman year at Georgetown Visitation and-- despite Claire making fun of Betsy for her cheetah/ Taylor Swift volleyball outfit-- have been friends ever since. Over the past ten years, they have bonded (with their other "Leo ladies") over August birthdays, struggled through English class as Laurie's Little Angles, and enjoyed laughs and beers at Friday Night Live (go stingrays!). There are sure to be many more memories to come! Claire is currently holding down the fort for the high school crew in the Washington, D.C. area (Alexandria, Virginia, specifically) and works on Capitol Hill. She is so excited to stand next to Betsy on her special day!!

Stephen and I met way back in our glory days of old Saint Maria Goretti middle school. And it is there that our friendship was cultivated and sustained until our ripe old ages of our twenties. Betsy and I met first while visiting them at IU and I had immediately thought she was perfect for Stephen. Congratulations.Bonus: Read the first word of every sentence.

Stephen and Mike's friendship began during their grade school days at St. Maria Goretti and continued through high school and college. Stephen and Mike were roommates at IU, where Stephen would practice his Japanese on Mike. Over the years, Hackl-san and Mike have enjoyed countless parties, tailgates, road trips, and basketball games together. Mike was with Stephen the night he met Betsy and instantly knew the two were perfect for each other. Mike is currently an attorney living in Chicago.

Betsy and Chrissy met one fateful day their freshman year of high school. Since then it has been 10 years of shenanigans. Some favorite memories include: going to all the 7/11’s in Herndon for free slurpee day, belting “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” in the car, being one of Laurie’s angels, and making fun of Betsy every time she snorts when she laughs. With Chrissy and Betsy together, there has never and probably will never be a dull moment.

Abby is one of Betsy's first sorority friends at AGD. Without Abby, Betsy doesn't think she would have made it sanely through the Kelley School of Business! They were inseparable throughout college and always there for each other when the times (and tests!) got tough. Abby currently lives in Fort Myers, FL where she is a buyer for woman's apparel. Betsy currently loves Abby's job for the surprise clothes she gets in the mail from Abby!

Stephen and Peter met through Peter’s older brother at SMG. Since Peter tagged along with Jacob and his friends Stephen didn’t really have a choice but to befriend Peter as well. Since then, they have attended high school and college together, getting into much mischief along the way. It has been Peter’s pleasure to get to know Stephen throughout the years and to be able to consider him his friend. Peter currently lives in Indiana working for a general contractor.

Jen is one of Betsy's closest friends from IU and sorority sister. While their friendship began a bit rocky with Jen making Betsy cry during Exec meetings (lol), they soon became amazing friends who challenged each other to be the best versions of themselves. Jen is always there to give great advice to Betsy and Betsy returns the favor by dolling up Jen with her Sephora collection before nights out! Jen currently lives in Chicago where she is completing Grad School and they try to see each other as often as they can.

Hi I’m Sam de Blecourt. I’ve known Stephen since we were little kids running around on the grade school playground. All these years later we’re still running around together even when the playground is traveling abroad. I live in New York now, but one of my favorite parts of coming home is to see Stephen and Betsy and pretend like our college days at IU never really ended. Looking forward to celebrating your special day with the two of you.

Matthew is the baby of the great Hackl 8. He just graduated from high school and will be attending the University of Dayton in the fall. Matthew loves lacrosse, music, and gator huntin’. Matthew and Stephen were close growing up and share many memories of working out, video games, and everything in between. One of Matthews favorite memories with Stephen was their trip to Breckinridge, Colorado to snowboard. His first time on a mountain and Stephen’s harsh encouragement while snowboarding eventually lead to a concussion which left him sitting out the rest of the trip. Matt sends well wishes to Steve and Betsy for the rest of their life!!

Betsy and I bonded at the AGD house sophomore year of college. With our mutual love of Dalmatians and curling hair, I knew we were going to be friends for life. I’m so excited to be a bridesmaid for you Betsy and be there for your day! Currently, I’m a district manager with Frito Lay living in Atlanta, GA.

Stephen and I first met in the early 90’s. Since then, Stephen has always been right there with me during many of my life's big events; throwingpillows at Lupita, vacations growing up, graduations, moving me and a UHaul out to California, going on 2,500+ mile road trip to multiple national parks and being a Groomsman at my wedding. Currently I’m a Project Manager with Webcor Builders in Los Angeles. I’m happily married to Holly, with daughter Charlotte, Dog Oliver and Cat Kitty.

Catherine is Stephen's younger sister (Hackl #6). She currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky where she is getting her Psy.D. in clinical psychology. When she isn't studying, you can catch her traveling the world, frequenting music festivals such as Coachella or binge watching Grey's Anatomy or Queer Eye. Her favorite memory with Betsy is the trip they took to Australia, involving lots of shopping, eating, and cute animals. Some of Catherine's favorite memories with Stephen include throwing parties in their parents basement in high school (& then picking up sticks as punishment), playing game cube and Pokémon together (even though he often tricked her into giving up her best cards), and going on a cruise to the Bahamas together where they went down the wedgie-inducing slides at Atlantis.

Lizard, or as some call Lizzy, is Stephen's youngest and favorite sister. She's 21 and a senior at Butler University. Not only does she rule the school but she also rules their house as the seventh Hackl. She and Betsy share names AND are best friends! They loved traveling Australia when she studied abroad there last semester. Her favorite memory with Betsy from that trip includes helping her pick out the best UGG gifts for Dottie and a koala bride and groom set for their wedding cake (what more could you want in life!). Since Stephen wasn't able to join their girls trip to Australia, she looks forward to crashing their honeymoon. She's most excited to dance all night at their reception and catch the flower bouquet. Love you stevie wevie and betsy boo!!!

Stephen’s oldest brother. Currently lives in Salem, OR with wife Kathleen and 3 children Gwen, Matthew & Maggie. Works for United Technologies as a plant manager, and enjoys hiking in the North West and family beach days.

Stephen's older sister, makeup artist, films YouTube makeup tutorials, and lives in Indy with her 3 kids and husband. I love anything to do with makeup, skincare and shopping! When Betsy and Stephen first started dating, before Betsy knew who I was, she would see my name in Stephen's phone and get suspicious of this "other girl" sending flirty emojis until she realized its his big sis "marg" (lol). Some of my favorite memories with Stephen from our childhood include going to Kings Island and making Stephen ride all the roller coasters with me, as well as playing night games in the summertime and ding dong ditching all our neighbors!

Betsy's only brother, Brian, lives in Washington D.C. with his fiancée Tara. Brian and Betsy grew up together in Virginia where they attended quite a bit of Catholic school and raised a few Schnauzers along the way. Brian met Stephen while he attended Indiana University with Betsy. Brian is overjoyed for the newlywed couple, especially since he finally gets a brother!
