Things to Do

We wanted to share some of our favorite places and things to do in the Burlington area with our friends and family. This list captures some of the reasons why we love Vermont. We hope you have the opportunity to enjoy too!

Places to Eat

Vermont Cookie Love

This place has the best cookies and creemees! We visit every time we are in the area. Bianca’s favorite is a coffee creemee, while Brendan always gets a maple creemee. You can’t go wrong with any of their cookies.

Burlington Bagel Bakery

We always stop here before we head back home for a good breakfast sandwich and iced coffee!

The Skinny Pancake

This restaurant specializes in crepes and is right across from Waterfront Park and Lake Champlain.

August First

A yummy lunch spot for sandwiches and baked goods. They make all of their bread in-house and it’s delicious!

Waterworks

This restaurant has a beautiful view of the Winooski River with indoor and outdoor dining available. They also have a walk-up creemee window.

Trattoria Delia

This is our date night restaurant when we visit Burlington. We stumbled upon it on our first trip to Burlington after the restaurant we originally had reservations at unexpectedly closed early. However, we highly recommend making reservations as the restaurant is small.

Activities

Whistling Man Schooner Co.

We love spending time on Lake Champlain and the best way to do that is on a sailboat. We got engaged aboard the Wild Rose. Reservations are required in advance.

Red Rocks Park

The park contains a few easy hiking trails with views of Lake Champlain.

Mount Philo

For those looking for something a little more adventurous, Mount Philo is a short drive from Burlington. We climbed to the top on our first trip to Vermont. The views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks make it worth the hike.

Waterfront Park

We enjoy spending time here on the swings and taking in the views of Lake Champlain. You can also bring a blanket and relax on the grass. You’re guaranteed several cute puppy sitings here.

Shelburne Museum

The museum contains both art and local history. There is also an antique pharmacy located on the property. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk both indoors and outside on the property.

Church Street

Several shops and restaurants are located on Church Street in downtown Burlington. The street is only open to pedestrian traffic. We always spend an afternoon here looking around and checking out the Vermont Flannel Company store.
