Hello to all of our wonderful wedding guests!
Bill and Sam here to share some insights into what we are seeing and how we are thinking about the (evolving) situation in Puerto Vallarta.
What we know right now:
- The alarming events that took place on Sunday 2/22 were a direct result of the killing of a Mexican drug lord by the Mexican government.
- There has been no further escalation of events in Puerto Vallarta following the initial conflict
- Neither civilians nor tourists were targeted in the conflict
- Flights have resumed and are back on their normal schedules
- The shelter in place has been lifted and people are moving about freely
- The streets have been cleared and traffic is flowing normally
- Schools, businesses and grocery stores are open
As we consider the circumstances:
The Hilton Riviera has top tier security and maintains global Hilton security standards, which is part of why we picked it. When arriving to the Hilton Riviera, you must pass through a security gate where they will check your names against the registered guest list before allowing entry. Similarly, the beach is secluded and private.
We are also looking into organizing shuttle vans between the PVR airport and the Hilton Riviera. At this stage we can't guarantee that it will be available, as it will depend on guests travel schedules. If you are interested, please complete this Google form by the end of day Thursday, February 26th so we can determine whether it is feasible. Please note that taking a shuttle may require a wait of approximately 2-3 hours for other arriving guests. If you prefer not to wait, taxi kiosks are located inside the airport and are available to take you to the hotel immediately. https://forms.gle/woTTE9CaTBxpmGg88
We expect to continue to monitor the situation closely and we will pivot as needed. In the meantime we will continue to update the website and we are very cautiously optimistic that the situation has stabilized and we can carry on as planned!
Lastly, thank you so much for your patience and understanding as we navigate this complicated situation. Your words of support and encouragement mean more than you know. We can't wait to celebrate with you in a week and a half! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
