As most people know, Bill and I are avid Geocachers. Geocaching is not only a hobby, but it's also a community and a life choice. Geocachers are the folks who like to get outside in nature. Who like to run around finding tupperware in the woods. Who like to gather with like-minded folks for all sorts of Geocaching Events. This is how Bill and I met.
Bill (AKA Airrooster in the Geocaching world) and Jen (AKA CrazyFrogLady in the Geocaching world) met at Martin 5's Veterans Day event in 2011. Through the years following, we became good friends, finding that we were so very much alike and that we truly enjoyed each other's company. We didn't even realize at the time that we were naturally drawn to each other at every event. We always found each other! (A fact that was pointed out by family and friends before we ever noticed...."Do you realize you and Bill are almost always standing next to each other in event photos??" "Huh?" LOL!) We gathered to visit, joke around, go off roading, and of course....go geocaching. Slowly but surely our feelings grew from friendship to close friendship.....and eventually we came to understand we were falling in love! On September 21st, 2017 we finally faced our growing love. And became the happiest either of us have ever been!! Bill IS the male version of Jen. And Jen IS the female version of Bill. Two sides of the same human mold. Finally together as one. Forever! <3
Geocaching brought us together and we started as friends, becoming best friends through the years! The beauty of being with your best friend is that you know each other so well....often better than you even know yourself! Geocaching started things.....therefore Bill knew the perfect way to propose marriage ~ at a Geocaching Event surrounded by our dear friends!!
Everything was perfect. The location was perfect. The company was perfect. The ring.....beyond perfection!!
It was New Year's Eve....December 31, 2017. Bill said that he chose New Year's Eve because he didn't want one day in 2018 to go by with us not either engaged or married! We had a geocaching event to attend to mark the end of another wonderful year. He arranged for our friend, Maggie, to take photos and so Maggie and Derek rearranged their schedules so they could be there for us!
It was cold that day, but not rainy or snowy. Not that the weather would have mattered, because it would have been perfect in any weather! At the end of the event, Bill pulls me out into the field, in front of so many friends, gets down on his knee and proposes!! We were both crying tears of joy and of course I said YES!! immediately!! Yes to spending the rest of my life with my best friend, my true love, my soulmate!!
The ring? BEAUTIFUL with two frogs holding a crown that cradles the main diamond!! Such a perfect ring for the Crazy Frog Lady!! Bill chose such perfection because he knows his love so well!!
Everyone asks me if I knew. Well, although Bill didn't tell me, again....we know each other so well. I suspected much. The ring he found because it had popped up on my Facebook so long ago as an advertisement....so yes, I suspected he would buy that ring. Yes, I knew the proposal was coming and that he would choose a special day. But I didn't know if that day would be New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day....I didn't know when, but I knew it was coming. So, yes, I kind of knew. But didn't know for sure, and suspecting so much only makes the proposal that much perfect ~ because we know each other so well!! Being with your best friend is pure joy everyday!!
