It was a fall afternoon in the romantic study room on the fifth floor of Centennial Towers West in 2020. Shaylee was hard at work, studying away for an upcoming exam with a few friends. After studying for a while, a daring, handsome young man walked into the room and greeted the three of them with a romantic, "What're y'all up to?" Little did he know, the quiet girl in the middle would soon be his wife. For a few short years, Shaylee and this young man, named Blake, were friends after being connected through the lovely Hannah (at the time) McDaniel. Then, Shaylee took a risk and decided to ask Blake to go to a wedding with some friends. After deliberating on whether to go and put the friendship at risk, Blake and a few friends had come to an agreement that he should go. So, the two went to a wedding on April 1st, 2023 (Congrats to the Denneys!). The night was wonderful with the only flaw being that Blake had a pulled hamstring from doing front lunges earlier that day, limiting him from impressing Shaylee on the dance floor. After a few weeks of what the kids nowadays call "talking", Blake asked Shaylee to be his girlfriend at a very controversial time. It was approximately 2:00 AM and most of the world would consider this to be Sunday, April 30th, 2023. However, Blake stands by a rule that it is not technically the next day until he goes to bed. To this day, he claims that the day he asked Shaylee to be his girlfriend was April 29th, 2023. However, Shaylee is much happier when he admits that it is the 30th, so he usually keeps this to himself. The Lord led the two of them down a variety of twists and turns until they both ended up in front of the cross at Dove Hill on April 12th, 2024 where Blake, with all his might, gave the most elaborate and wonderful speech that Shaylee did not remember. After this speech, he did a backward lunge with the right leg and asked Shaylee if she would marry him. Shaylee mustered out an "uhhuh" and the two happily were engaged, planning the rest of their lives where they will serve the Lord together.
