Edwin and I met through mutual friends in high school. However, we hung out with different people. In 2020, I was on spring break when I received an email saying that Liberty would not be returning to school due to Covid. This truly was a blessing in disguise. It was during my time at home that Edwin reached out to me through Facebook. We messaged for a while and then finally went out on our first date. During this time, you could not eat inside at a lot of restaurants. Edwin showed up at my house (while on his lunch break) to pick me up and take me to Chick-fil-A. We ate our food in his truck and headed back to walk out on the pier by my house. That didn’t last long and shortly after I ended back at home. The date lasted 30 mins. We laugh about it now because it wasn’t a date that would swoop you off of your feet, but it was a memorable one. Over 3 years have gone by and here we are counting down the days until we get married.
Our proposal: November 4th was such a special day with our favorite people. All along, I thought we were going for homecoming weekend at Liberty and little did I know that Edwin was planning on proposing. I woke up early on the 4th to go take a family photo of my sister, her husband and their son. We went up to the medical building at LU that overlooks the Blue Ridge mountains. As we walked out to the overlook, there Edwin was waiting for me. After he proposed, our families came from behind some trees. It was a complete surprise and a day that we will never forget!
