We met at a country line dancing bar called Montana’s in San Dimas.
Our first official date was at Red Robin and Dave & Buster’s — a perfect mix of fun and friendly competition (or not so friendly when it comes to their signature game – air hockey). Courtney ordered two appetizers (which immediately confirmed to Boaen that she was high maintenance… kidding/not kidding). Boaen wore a white long sleeve shirt — the very same one you might recognize from their save-the-date photos.
But what really made that first date special wasn’t the food or the games. At one point, Boaen told Courtney, “I have two sisters who are my whole world, and I need someone who wants to be actively involved in their lives and understand they come first.” Courtney, who had always wanted siblings of her own, felt honored at the thought of becoming part of their world and stepping into the role of big sister.
Meanwhile, Courtney asked Boaen if he would be willing to date someone who still had three years of school left. Boaen (half joking, half not) said “no.” And yet… here they are three years later — school FINALLY finished.
Our dating anniversary is November 29th, which makes it extra special that our wedding anniversary will also be in November!
On December 28th, 2024, Boaen pulled off the ultimate surprise. He and the entire family convinced Courtney they were taking family photos at Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach (the last family photos had been taken when Lola was just a baby, so Courtney didn’t suspect a thing). Instead, Boaen got down on one knee, and it became one of the best days of their lives. He planned for both families to celebrate afterward with Mexican food and margaritas (he knows Court so well). Courtney still to this day has no idea how everyone kept such a big secret from her through the holidays!
Now officially graduated and a veterinarian, we live in a cozy condo in Irvine — finally ending Boaen’s three-year commute from Pomona (yay thank you, Boaen, for that sacrifice 🥹). We are thrilled to start a new chapter together as a dual-income household… mostly so we could continue spoiling our two very loved cats, Reese and Ricky Bobby.
Now we are thrilled to continue into our next chapter – married life!
We are so excited to celebrate with you all on November 7th, 2026 at Galway Downs in Temecula! We are looking forward to having all of our favorite people in one place. Here is to our “happily ever after!”
