Our Story

Bobbie Jo & Nathan

How we met

Nathan and Bobbie Jo met through a mutual friend. BJ often met this friend for drinks at Swingers Grill (sadly this establishment is no more) and Nathan joined and as they say the rest is history.

When we fell in love

BJ wanted to surprise Nathan with a special date night. She heard of this arcade in McLean Illinois that had nothing but 90s video games, just like an arcade you used to find in the mall. Well she told Nathan nothing of what they would be doing, but he thought it was strange their big date night was taking them to McLean. When they pulled up and saw the big neon Pac Man sign on the building, Nathan's face lit up like a kid on Christmas. That was the night Nathan said he fell in love with Bobbie Jo, and Bobbie Jo was pretty in love then too.

Engagement

Nathan took BJ back to where he fell in love at the arcade. He had arranged a playlist and had the owner put it in the juke box. The arcade was not open to the public so they were the only two in the business. It took about 3 songs for Bobbie Jo to realize these were not songs that would normally be in the juke box. She was playing pin ball and when she turned around to tell Nathan the coincidence of these songs he was down on one knee. He spoke of how well we compliment each other, how she makes him a better man, and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. She said Yes!

Long Engagement

Yes it has been several years since Bobbie Jo said yes, and they have been wonderful years. You may wonder why it has taken them almost 7 years since the engagement to finally plan the wedding and say I Do. The truth is they do not have an adequate answer. BJ prefers to live life in the background, if she were cast in a movie she would be the quirky best friend or sister, not the staring character. Therefore BJ has become very anxious when planning an event that she has the staring role (Technically co-staring role, Nathan plays a big role as well). She has been content to live in her bungalow with Nathan and their pet(s). Nathan has been very patient and supportive stating "We have the rest of our lives to be married, there is no rush." So they have spent 7 years being happily engaged.

So why now?

Why not? Life is not a guarantee, you never know when your story will be over. So Nathan and Bobbie Jo are finally ready to say "I Do" and live happily ever after (or as close to that as possible).
