Q & A

When do I need to RSVP by?

July 5th please! We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Will the celebration be indoors or outdoors?

Indoors! We'll be getting married at University Christian Church and then have our reception at the Brookshire, both inside.

How did you two meet?

We both attended Michigan State University, and met through a college ministry there. We were friends for a long time until everyone realized we liked each other (except us)! Eventually, she told me she liked me, and I realized I liked her too. Countless dates, three poems, and one ring later, here we are!

Sam, what is your favorite thing about Bonnie?

Bonnie is beautiful and intelligent, but my favorite thing about her is that she loves Jesus. Since the day I met her, Bonnie has been someone who loves the Lord first and foremost, and that is demonstrated so clearly through her kindness and compassion for others. When talking about "an excellent wife," the book of Proverbs states that she "opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue" (Prov 31:26), and everyone who knows Bonnie can attest to her great kindness.

Bonnie, what is your favorite thing about Sam?

I think one thing (out of a great many excellent things) that has always stood out to me about Sam even before we were dating is his humility. He truly puts others above himself at every opportunity, and has been so loving and patient with me in all my anxieties (and nerd interests) throughout our relationship. His actions have spoken so clearly to me of his love for the Lord and how he lets that shape his love for me and others.

Why is faith so important to both of you?

We both value our faith because of the impact it has had on our lives and the lives of others. When we started studying the Bible at college, we realized our need for a savior. Romans 3:23 says that all have done evil and deserve punishment, and we are no different. However, God so loved the world that he came in the form of Jesus and died for our sins. We had both heard this before in church, but we finally understood that there was nothing we could do to earn our way to heaven. Jesus did everything by dying on the cross, and only through having faith in Him could we have a relationship with God. We are still far from perfect, but God's spirit is always working in us to make us more like him.
