A month passed by, and Bradley saw Mattie again. This time, she was recruiting students for the Spanish Club while also selling churros to raise money for the club. Bradley and their mutual friend would again go talk to her. This time, Bradley mustered up the courage to buy a churro directly from Mattie.

Mattie doesn’t remember meeting Bradley that day . . .

Bradley would never commit to going to Spanish Club. His excuse? He didn’t have the self-confidence to talk to Mattie one-on-one . . . at least not yet.

Another month passed by, and in his Spanish class, Bradley’s professor announced that the Spanish Club would once again be selling churros. With 300 milligrams of caffeine in his veins, Bradley gained the self-confidence to talk to Mattie and rushed out of class to the table only to find out she was not there. Bradley took it as a sign that “maybe it was not meant to be after all.” Mattie and Bradley remember hearing good things about each other throughout the rest of college, but they never had the opportunity to connect.
