Our story begins in 2004 while attending Dundee-Crown High School’s Symphonic Band. Brandi, the front row flutist, and Brian, the back row percussionist, would exchange glances, making awkward teenage eye contact from across the room. We would always look away quick and never spoke after band. This continued for the next 3 years, where we had a sense of connection without ever saying a word to each other. 


When Brandi graduated, Brian still had a year left of high school and he thought he missed his chance to talk to the girl from band. However, being music lovers, we both were naturally drawn to the local music scene. We became acquaintances in our early 20’s frequenting the same concerts and festivals for almost a decade. 


In 2018, as fate would have it, Brian and Brandi attended the same concert. In between songs and dancing, we exchanged stories of each others recent travels and realized we shared a passion for adventure. Before the end of the night, Brian asked Brandi to meet for dinner later in the week to continue our conversation. 


After that first dinner, we still didn’t want the conversation to end. We continued hanging out frequently, realizing we both enjoyed active lifestyles including hiking, riding bikes, and rock climbing. Brian introduce Brandi to sailing and slack-lining, while Brandi showed Brian musical theatre and ice skating. From there, we began planning our trips together. 


We traveled to many National Parks, such as; Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Badlands, Acadia, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Glacier, Olympic, North Cascades, Banff, and Jasper to name a few. One of the first big mountain summits we conquered together was Mount Charleston, located just outside of the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. At 11,916 ft in elevation and 18 miles of hiking, this hidden gem holds a special place in our hearts. We are beyond excited to bring our closest family and friends to this beautiful mountain we hold so dear, to celebrate with us as we begin our next big adventure of becoming husband and wife.
