Our story begins with a humble Catholic ministry called NET Ministries. NET is a ministry focusing on evangelization, specifically evangelizing young people. Monica’s parents both served with NET early on so she was enveloped in the culture her entire life. She along with three of her siblings (Dominic, Luke, & Jude) have all served on NET as well. Monica served 2018 - 2020 in Ireland and the US. Now, as far as Brandon’s involvement with NET, he also served for two years in the US, 2011 - 2013. During his second year, he met a young Dominic Schaefer. Little did he know that he would become his eventual brother-in-law. Fast forward 9 years - Brandon is serving with a Catholic ministry called Ablaze Ministries in Waco, TX and Monica has moved back to Texas from Ireland and took up residence in Bryan-College Station. One of her roommates, Sarah, was also an Ablaze missionary. In February of 2022, on Brandon’s birthday, Monica and her roommates were having a young adult community night which Brandon attended. Another year went by and in February of 2023, Monica was singing at Sarah’s wedding and Brandon was in attendance. Monica confesses that she couldn’t stop looking at Brandon in the pew. Brandon proceeds to ask Monica out one week later and Monica, of course, responded with, “I’m actually going on a dating fast for Lent.” “Greeeaat...” Brandon thought, reluctantly. Monica did express interest though and Brandon honored her dating fast and there was little to no communication during this time. At midnight exactly on Easter Sunday, what does Brandon see but a text message from Monica. Brandon asks Monica out for a second time and she excitedly says yes! They make the relationship official on April 28, 2023, the Feast Day of St. Louis de Montfort. Roughly 8 months later, on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th, Brandon asks Monica to spend the rest of their lives together. God is good!
