September 2021: We both ended up at a birthday dinner for our friend at Indochine. This was the first time I had seen Chris outside of work and he was looking gooood. I didn't know much about him or his relationship status, but we were in a group setting so I played it cool. We went our separate ways with a soft goodbye from me and a very shy smile that night.
You know when you are shopping for a new car and you are driving down the road and all you see is the make and model of the car you want over and over and over again?! Well this was the next two months for me. I ran into Chris at the hospital more times than I can count. We worked together for the first time, he tried to educate me on all things ICU nurse related and I don't think one word stuck. I was too distracted.
Finally, November 20th rolled around and again fate brought us together. I was at dinner with friends at Smoke on the Water and he was suppose to be getting ready for a date, yes with someone else. One of my friends was leaving our floor and moving back west, so a big group decided to go out and celebrate her last weekend in town. They texted me and I was dropped off from dinner to join in on the celebrations. I was hoping Chris would be there, but was too scared to ask anyone. Meanwhile the date Chris was suppose to be getting ready for cancelled (thank god!!) and he headed over to celebrate as well.
The rest is really history, but we bounced around from the Husk to Growlers where we bonded over many coffee shots, argued on whose turn it was to buy the next round and moved on to the Reel Cafe. On the way up to the third floor he grabbed for my hand and I melted. Our first kiss was on the rooftop that was soon interrupted by the surprise of our friend group.
We then did breakfast in the morning, took Charlie to the dog park and he truly stole my heart by playing with my dog. From there we met all of his friends to watch football at Whiskey Trail. I really did meet most of the friend group in less than 24 hours.
From Whiskey Trail, we went to Brewers Kettle and then dinner at Genki Sushi. How can you not fall in love with dog parks, football and sushi?! We were truly inseparable and the excitement and butterflies has yet to wear off.
Kids, it was fall of 2021, Covid was on the swing, the peaks of Delta had just passed and people were dying to get out and have fun. We were out for your aunt Maggies birthday and that was the first time I met her, you mom.
She was kind, and funny, she bought me a beer. She was perfect, but as the night ended and we went our separate ways, the tumultuous waves of Covid pushed us apartm.
It wouldnt be until two months later that the tides of fate brought us back together at a friends going away party. We spent the next 36 hours together and I knew right then that this was the women I was going to marry, and that is How I Met Your Mother
