Our story actually starts two years before we really knew each-other in 2017...
The couple never knew the other due to going to separate high schools and having pretty different "personalities".
Bre was a junior and freshly single and getting ready to go to prom with two of her best friends (Ang and Kaitlin). She was so exited to be stupid and just enjoy the night to the fullest.
Ian was a senior and by happenstance was invited to the very same prom. They crossed paths when Bre was introduced to him by his date and neither really took note of each other aside from doing the normal thing at the time, adding each other on Facebook days later since they now had mutual FB friends and never think about it again...little did they know things would change so much in two years time.
Fast forward to 2019 Bre is working her first 'big girl job' at a bank and has given up on dating because men generally suck (sorry not sorry). Ian is settled in Osage starting a new job working on the water.
Bre had a friend who reeaallly wanted her to get back on dating apps or find ANYONE to go on a double date with her. The two girls decided to have a shopping day and end it with getting Steak and Shake. As they are enjoying their dinner her friend notices a handsome guy paying for his meal and points him out. When Bre looks over at him she immediately remembers who he is and tells her friend "ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!" Bre whips out her phone and goes to Facebook and eventually finds his profile and shows it to her friend as she is telling her the story about how Bre and Ian are friends on FB. Her friend then decides to MESSAGE HIM?!?!?!
Ian is just getting to his truck with his grandpa Don after they finished their dinner, as he sits down in the driver seat his phone buzzes. The message was something along the lines of "How was Steak and Shake?" ...This is the first message ever exchanged between Bre and Ian...needless to say he was freaked out. For roughly 30 minutes Bre's friend managed to message back and forth with Ian progressively giving Ian more and more 'Ick'.
Bre ended up apologizing to Ian about everything that happened and they ended up chatting every once-in-awhile chatting back and forth as friends and eventually adding each-other on Snapchat.
They ended up becoming each other's #1 best friends and back then everyone was able to view that... keep in mind they were just friends at this time and barely a month has passed since the Steak and Shake situation. Ian was talking with someone else at the time, him being a man (remember what I said earlier about men...) blocked Bre to avoid upsetting his "friend".
A few weeks later he unblocked Bre, as he was no longer in a situation, and she almost immediately called him out for blocking her. She wasn't serious and didn't care, so they carried on with getting to know each-other.
A couple days later Bre really wanted to see the new Men in Black and no one would go with her. She eventually asks Ian to see the movie with her the coming up Friday. He agrees to go and neither of them say anything about a date. (That comes up later BTW)
Fast forward to that fateful Friday, Bre is off work and heading over to the movies and messages Ian to see when he wants to meet up. Ian claims that he won't be able to make it because he is stuck in traffic, keep in mind there's at least an hour before the movie begins. This man gets Bre to drive around for 30 minutes or so trying to kill time and then tells her that he actually isn't in traffic and is actually at Taco Bell with his friend and asked her to meet there. She obviously says no because she's seen Date Line, then he says he has his dog, Brutis, with him... A few minutes later she pulls into Taco Bell fully ready to be murdered to see the dog.
They ended up driving around for hours just talking. At the end of the night they were walking Brutis by the dam access. Ian apologized for ruining the date and explains he didn't want their first date to be the movies... Bre just said "that was going to be a date?!" After this night they were inseparable.
The two have been through many ups and downs in the five years they have been together(they even snuck Bre's cat in without Ian's family knowing for about three days). They have grown, matured, made mistakes, but most importantly they have always stayed true to their own individual feelings and personalities and let each-other be who they want to be.
To this day Bre refuses to admit she knew it was a date. ;)
