Another wedding brought us together. While preparing to stand up for her friend Josie, Breanna got to know her other bridesmaids. One of them asked to set her up with her husband’s friend.
Meanwhile, Aaron was receiving texts from his friend Jared telling him about this super cool girl that his wife knew. Aaron decided to reach out , and the two of us texted for about a week. We had our first date on June 5th, 2021 at Jolly Pumpkin. It was a bit weird, as we were still coming out of COVID restrictions, but we both had a good time and decided we should hang out again.
Since then, we have had many adventures together! Some of our favorites have been exploring new places. Aaron showed Breanna around Boyne Mountain, where he spent a lot of time as a child, and we visited New Orleans. Since moving into Oak Park, we have enjoyed trying out many new restaurants in Ferndale and Royal Oak.
As a couple, we have gotten to celebrate Aaron’s graduation with his second Bachelor’s degree, and Breanna’s graduation with her Masters degree.
Sporting events have been other favorite memories. Aaron is a big fan of the Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Red Wings. Breanna is a dedicated fan of the Detroit Tigers. We have watched many games together at home, went to a Red Wings game and Tigers game in the same day, and even got to see Miguel Cabrera’s 3,000th hit in person!
Other highlights include summer concerts, trivia nights, and celebrating other friends’ weddings. We also just love spending time at home and laughing together. We even have a book club of two!
Aaron planned the perfect engagement during our cruise to Alaska. Our first full day was spent at sea. Breanna had some problems with sea-sickness throughout the day, but was feeling much better by the evening. It was formal night, so we dressed up in some of our best outfits. After dinner and some photo opportunities, Aaron suggested going back to the room. With the beautiful ocean view behind us, Aaron asked Breanna to get married! She said yes, of course! Celebratory drinks were delivered to the room and we sat on the balcony watching the ocean for awhile. Later, we walked to the front of the boat and saw whales swimming in the nearby water.
The rest of the trip was a perfect way to celebrate being engaged! We saw a black bear, many more whales, bald eagles, and even some sea otters. We explored the stunning Alaskan wilderness by foot and boat, and at one point, dog sled. On the boat, we had amazing meals and entertainment. It was a wonderful trip that we will remember forever!
