Our Wedding

We first met at RiversEdge Community Church in February of 2021. We ended up sitting next to each other during a service. Collin says he fell head over heels during the conversation we had before and after service. Breanna, at the time, confused Collin for his younger brother, who she previously met. The next year brought a strong friendship that consisted of volunteering in youth ministry together, jamming out to country music in Collin's car, game nights, and bonfires with other friends. Collin's first attempt at asking Breanna out was unsuccessful. She wasn't looking to start a relationship since she was moving out of state at the end of the summer. Collin accepted this and resigned himself to the two of us just being really great friends and we planned to leave it at that. The car rides, ministry, and hangouts with friends continued. However, the greatest plot twist of the century came on June 11, 2022. Breanna was spending her summer working at church camps with Great Lakes Christian College. It was Saturday and she was leaving for camp the next day. Collin decided to have some friends over for a bonfire and invited her over as a bit of a last hurrah since none of us knew when our paths would cross again. It was a fun night of archery, volleyball, and midnight Taco Bell. To make a long story short we officially started dating around 3am on June 12, 2022. Then came a whirlwind summer of dates on the weekends, text messages, and phone calls. Breanna moving to Indiana so early into our relationship came with its own special and unique set of difficulties, but we eventually figured out a rhythm. Facetime, school dances, soccer games, and occasional weekend visits made long-distance a lot more manageable. In September of 2023, we decided that we were ready to take the next step in our relationship. So, with help from a friend (shout out to our lovely friend/photographer Grace Arends! We love you!) Collin went out and bought a ring. After months of planning, preparation, and teasing Breanna about having the ring, on March 29th, 2024, Collin asked her to marry him, and she said yes. That pretty much leads us to today! Your guys' love and support has made this possible and we cannot wait to celebrate with you all!!

Jaelynn is the oldest of the three Vert sisters. She is kind, compassionate, and full of wisdom. Jaelynn is pictured here alongside her husband of (almost) three years, Colton. Jaelynn and I really grew in our sister relationship while I was a student at Great Lakes Christian College and she was attending Spring Arbor University. Every Sunday she would come back to Lansing for church and I would get to hang out with her in the afternoon and into the evenings even though we went to different churches in the area. That time will always be a special time for the two of us as we got to watch each other grow in life and in relationships with others. After her wedding, Jaelynn moved to Lansing and I moved to Indiana to continue my education. Being two and half hours away from my older sister was harder than I expected it to be, but thankfully, I still get to see her (and crash at her place) whenever I come up during breaks from school. Extra thankfully: After the wedding, I will be living in the Lansing area and once again in close proximity to my older sister! 

Three years ago, I was honored to stand next to her as she married the love of her life, and now I'm honored to have her stand next to me as I marry mine. 

Jaelynn Harris

Mallory is the youngest of the three Vert sisters. Mallory is thoughtful, bold, and not afraid to ask hard questions. She is also insanely creative and uses her skills to give back to others. For Christmas a few years back she made me a key rack in the shape of the letter "B" painted with all three of our favorite colors. That key rack is the sole reason that I don't lose my keys seven thousand times a day. The fact that we go to schools that are eight hours apart and are both very busy, involved college students means that we do not get to see each other very often. I miss her a lot when we are apart, but I think that it makes the time that we do get to spend together even sweeter. After getting married, I will permanently be living a ways from her, which is a little sad to think about, but I am so excited that we will be able to hang out together on the wedding day and I am so glad that she will be standing beside me. 

Mallory Vert

Abbi is both my cousin and a close friend. Growing up I was closer with her older brother than I was with her since we were closer in age, but as we grew up Abbi and I became close friends because of our similar personalities and sense of humor. There are times at family events when I can communicate with Abbi with just a look from across the room. Abbi is the person I can sit with and openly talk to about anything and everything without fear of judgment. Many family gatherings end up with Abbi and I sitting in her room just talking. She has become one of my favorite people. We live a few hours apart so we do not get to see each other more than a few times a year, so having her stand up beside me on my wedding day is extra special. She makes everything so fun and I am excited to see what kind of fun she brings to the wedding day!

Abigail Apps

Rachael is my cousin and as we have grown older has become a close friend. She is funny and loving. When we were kids Rachael lived about three hours away, so we only saw each other a handful of times a year. However, when Rachael started college at Lake Superior State University when I was 12 we started seeing each other at least once a week. In the past almost 11 years, our relationship has grown from cousins to friends. Rachael has gone from the cousin who used to prefer to hang out upstairs to avoid whatever crazy was happening downstairs to the one who has us over at her place and contributes to the fun. I am excited to have Rachael standing up with me and contributing to the wedding fun! 

Rachael Robenault

Shauna makes up one-third of the best roommate trio there ever was. Shauna was the very first person I met when I got to Bethel. I had transferred to Bethel and was randomly placed with her. Every single one of us was nervous and not super excited about the idea of a random transfer roommate placement, but we had no choice except to make the best of it. If you had told us that our friendship would turn into a sisterhood, I'm not sure any of us would have believed you, but here we are. We did not click instantly, but once we let down our walls something fell into place. Shauna is fun, crazy, and just pure joy (very fitting as that is literally her middle name!). I did not expect to find a best friend in my random roommate, but I couldn't imagine my life without her. Last year I had the honor to stand next to her as she married her "forever roomie", Robert. I couldn't imagine not having her up there with me when I marry mine. Even though we will be living two-and-half-hours apart and can no longer call each other roommates, I know that Shauna is never more than a text message away, and I now can simply call her my best friend and an honorary sister. 

Shauna Schrock

Samantha, better known as Sam, makes up the remaining one-third of the best roomie trio ever. Everything that was said about Shauna and the roommate stuff could also be said over here about Sam, but rather than sounding redundant here's some stuff that's special about Sam. Sam just exudes a youthful energy. When Sam is around, you always know you are in for a fun time. She has never failed to make me laugh even when it means taking on jokes at her own expense. Sam is also the kind of person who is quick to defend you and have your back. She's quick to problem-solve and is always ready to offer a solution or advice when someone she loves is in a tough situation. She's fiercely loyal and loves with her whole 4'11" self. God really knew what he was doing when he gave me her as a roommate and it's by His grace that we've grown into the something more you see today. I've missed living with her since she graduated a year before I did, but I know she's off doing important things. I'm excited to have her alongside me once again as we celebrate my wedding day and I couldn't imagine doing it without her. 

Samantha Hirschy

Collin's younger brother, and his partner in chaos. Danny and I are near inseparable. Whether it be debating some obscure historical or philosophical concept, to some incredibly stupid stunt that will get the two of us in trouble. Best to keep us away from each other, for the sake of the bride's sanity.  We have been through so much together and there is no one I would rather have next to me when I say I do. 

Daniel Thomas

Collin's older brother, and one of his steadfast supporters. Always willing to lend a hand, or a piece of advice, or very frequently the weather forecast (even when no one asked). Scott and I share a close relationship of board games and trivia, the strongest bonds two guys can have.  Despite his hectic work schedule and otherwise busy life, Scott always finds time for me. 

Scott Thomas

Despite being the groomsman Collin has known the shortest, their friendship is a true testimony to there being more than just time needed for a relationship. He started as this random guy from church, but now you will never find a weekend (or a weeknight for a lot of them) that you will not see us two online gaming for many hours. Combine that with deep biblical conversations and the kind of relationship where one of them can just show up at the other's house and cry in the living room for three hours. Our bond despite being short in time, is one of the strongest I have. Someone I look to as an example of a good, Godly husband, and an even better man. 

Landen Schmidtmann

How do you describe someone who has been so close with you it is almost like they are a part of you. Zach and I were nothing serious in high school, friend of a friend type deal. Then Covid hit and we were all stuck. Somehow in that period of isolation, our relationship began to grow. We went from only seeing each other at mutual events to working out together a few days a week. Then it was video games at night, and from there it just expanded. He became my partner in ministry at YFC and our church's youth group. He would just show up at my house randomly and we would hang for hours on end. He was one of if not the closest person to me when I met Breanna, and with everything that came after. I can honestly say we would not have made it to this point without him, and for that I am forever grateful. 

Zack Borgman

To me, you will always be Noah's weird younger brother. Popping into trivia freshman year I had no idea who you were or how much you would come to mean to me. One of my close friends, Ethan and I got close by mere accident. We sat next to each other in AP Language. We discovered a shared love of video games, and from there we were off to the races. Ethan's contribution to my will always be unique because everything was always so easy. From the day we met, to today and beyond we can just call each other up and end up on the phone for hours and hours. There is an easy comfortability there, as we talk about the good and the bad. We are both a listening ear to the other, and I always walk away from every conversation feeling better. He calls me out when I am being dumb, and lifts me up when I doubt myself. I look forward to many more years together swimming in his pool and smoking meat with his dad. 

Ethan Burton

Collin's longest friend, kindergarten besties these two were. From elementary school, and even when I moved away for Middle School and Highschool. We have always shared a very special and very close relationship. We may not talk every day, or hang out all the time. However every triumph and heartache has been shared together, and the moment one of us is in trouble the other would be there without a thought. Someone who has had my back every day, and will always have it I hope for the rest of my life.
