"Let all that you do be done in love." Corinthians 16:14
I (Brecken) moved to Nashville in 2019, right after college. I only had one friend who lived in Nashville when I arrived, so I relied on good ole social media to meet new friends. One of those new friends was from Atlanta and happened to know Corey Sullivan. Corey was still attending his undergraduate at UGA, but decided to come visit one of his best friends from childhood, who had just moved to Nashville, Peter Trask. I wish we could say we met; it was love at first sight, and the rest was history, but that was most definitely not the case.
BUT - over the next few years, we became best friends. Corey came up to visit any chance he had. We exchanged a few drunken kisses, and I turned down a few silly “wanna go on a date with me’s” from Corey, and life went on. I dated some toads, and Corey focused on starting his adult life. For years, we gave each other life advice and relationship advice. We went on weekly walks and talked about our goals, our faith, and vision for the years to come. And as time went on, those visions started to line up more and more.
Then May 2023 came around. One of my best friends from college, Tori Caudle, had recently picked up and moved to Montana. One night I was over at Corey’s grilling out when I got a text from Tori saying, “COME VISIT ME IN MONTANA ASAP.” Her roommate was gone for the summer, and she had a whole room to offer. I started looking up flights and found one for a whopping $95 round trip. I told Corey about my spontaneous plan, and he immediately said, “Um, I want to go.” So two weeks later, we grabbed our bags and hopped on a flight to Bozeman.
This trip was truly out of a movie. We spent our first day horseback riding through Livingston, Montana. That was when the first light went off... seeing Corey on a horse... I kid I kid... (kind of). ;)...The next day we went to a Mitchell Tenpenny concert. I’d like to thank Sir Mitchell and Tori’s innocent friend, Amanda, for their contributions in this next part of our story. After the concert started, Amanda began talking to Corey. Asking him questions about himself, exchanging small talk, and truly just being a nice human. I hated this. But…why? I’m normally the one wingmaning for Corey, not wishing I was the girl involved. So naturally... I stormed off. Corey (confused as can be, rightfully so) followed. After interrogating me for 5 minutes with no luck, I finally exploded like a word vomit volcano. Professing my love like a teenager in the middle of the crowd at the Mitchell Tenpenny concert. Now is the part where I can say—the rest was history.
When I went to write our story for this site, I decided to look in my phone gallery to see if I could find a photo of the day we first met. To my surprise, the date on that photo was September 19, 2020. Our wedding date is set for September 19, 2025. Clearly, God had a plan all along.
