One of my college roommates, Alison, told me that there was this guy at her church who she thought would be a good match for me. After almost a month of back and forth with busy schedules she arranged for a time for both of us to come over for dinner at her and her husband's house. My initial impression that night was that Michael was more reserved, but had a good sense of humor. Overall I thought it was an enjoyable evening, and it didn't feel too painfully awkward. I left their house that night optimistic that Michael might reach out and ask me on a date. After a couple of days he hadn't texted me and so I decided to text him. I figured what do I have to lose, if he isn't interested he won't text back and we can both move on with our lives. Thankfully, he did text me back. After a couple of days of texting he asked me on our first real date. On May 7th, he came and picked me up and took me to dinner. Michael is a true gentleman and I haven't had to open a car door since that day. The conversation flowed pretty naturally, and at the end of the evening we both agreed we would like to do it again.
One Sunday after church Brad, the pastor at my church, told me that his wife, Alison wanted to talk to me. Alison wanted me to meet one of her friends that she went to college with and has stayed friends with ever since. I had my doubts, but I said that I would meet her. As the weeks went by I was wondering if I was ever going to meet her but Alison kept making comments about things that Brenna likes so I figured there was still a possibility. I also wondered if she was ugly or something and that was why it took so long to meet her. Finally, the night came after a month of waiting and I got to Brad and Alison’s house before Brenna. She walked in the door and I saw her and thought, "Wow, she’s cute". Dinner was not ready yet so we talked for a little bit and I had already decided it was not going to work. The night went on and I was ready to leave because I didn’t think I would fit into her life , but I stayed to be polite. When it was time to leave, Brenna said, “It was nice to meet you”, and what looked like sprinted out the door before I could ever say, “It was nice to meet you” back to her. I left their house thinking, "That was a bust". The days went on and Brenna texted me the Thursday night after, starting a conversation with me. After texting back and forth for a few days, I asked Brenna out and our first date was May 7th. And now I have to open two car doors every time we go somewhere.
