On February 16th, 2022 when Laura was annoyed with online dating yet again, she decided to do another look through the options and super swipe on this guy named Brett. Brett was quick to respond and they began talking immediately. Laura was trying to figure out quickly “why this guy wouldn’t work too” and began asking all of the important deal breaker questions off the bat. To Laura’s surprise, Brett answered everything well and she found their ideals aligned a lot. Brett asked her out for that Friday evening. So on Friday, February 18th, 2022 they had their first date. They were both so excited for the date. Laura was so excited she had an adrenaline rush and took some time to calm down once she got to the restaurant after the server brought her some Tylenol. The date continued and they both knew this was something very special.

There were several things that made them realize their meeting was no accident. Brett was a strong atheist but came to believe in Jesus as his Lord on April 12, 2020. Brett told Laura that a message from Pastor Mike Todd through Transformation Church is what lead him to believe in God. Laura had already been attending the church for years, and because of her volunteering, she was able to bring Brett to church at Transformation when it was still being held at the old building in Greenwood. It was during this time that Brett and Laura knew that God had brought them together and this relationship was what they both had been waiting for.

Brett quickly learned how busy of a life Laura lives and how difficult it is to keep up with her. When they first started dating, Laura was in a show and immediately started another show when that one ended. Brett realized the only way he could spend time with Laura was to also get involved in the theatre community. It was during this second show, Something Rotten, that Brett signed up to help with tech during the show. The theatre community accepted Brett with wide open arms and he found his own friendships within this world of theatre.

Although they both knew early on they had found each others forever person, they both wanted to work on themselves individually before getting engaged in preparation for marriage. They both went to therapy to address individual issues and issues that arose from starting a new relationship. Laura and Brett will both admit they are established adults who were stuck doing things their own way, so therapy was beneficial getting over hurdles of stubbornness while also challenging each other in areas of weakness they both struggled with.

Laura and Brett continued to experience life together as they both do Crossfit together, theatre together, church together and life together. They attribute their whole relationship to the blessing and favor that comes from their Lord God. The biggest thing they want on their wedding day is to celebrate what the Lord has done in bringing them together.

I am most thankful for how Brett has been patient and caring towards my friends and family. Brett has known how important they are to me. He planned an individual date to first meet each niece in a special way. Another special memory is when he first went to my fathers grave he asked for a minute alone. He later told me that at that time he asked my father for his blessing to marry me. Brett also said in that moment he felt like my dad gave him his permission but also instructed him to take care of my mom too. Brett has since always said his role is to take care of both me and Momma. He is the man of my dreams and I can't wait to marry him.

When I sit and think about me and Laura my first thought is strength. When we are together there is nothing in this world that can stand against us. We complement each other in the best ways, she is an incredibly kind and loving force of nature, I am an intimidating brute. She softens my sight and I strengthen hers. Together we make a beautifully powerful combination. Every day we always challenge each other to do better and grow stronger. With Laura by my side I know there is no storm we cant handle together because she gives me the confidence to know there will always be a brighter day. I love this woman with all my heart and will till the day I die.
