It all started in early January 2022... Emily had caught COVID-19 and downloaded Hinge out of quarantined boredom. Brett's family had been bugging him about not having a girlfriend over the holidays (as families do!), so he downloaded it as well. Two right-swipes later and we found ourselves having the best first date ever at Old North Arcade. Emily kicked Brett's ass at air hockey that night and stole his heart at the same time.


A month and a few trivia dates later, Emily asked Brett if she could PLEASE call him her boyfriend. He thought she would never ask!


Soon after, Emily took a trip to Jamaica with her sister and brother-in-law. She was gone for barely more than a week and realized she could not live without Brett. She knew she absolutely loved him and had to tell him as soon as she saw him again! Meanwhile in Columbus, Brett felt it was one of the longest weeks of his life; he clearly felt the same way. That trip made it official: we were in love.


It didn’t take long before Brett asked Emily to move in with him. In July 2022, Emily and her trusty steed (cat), Wallaby, hauled all their things across the city to start an exciting new adventure living with Brett, his brother Andrew, and everyone's favorite 100 lb American Bulldog, Frank.



We spent the next year continuing to get to know each other, and it became very clear to us and the people around us that we had found our person. We realized very early on that we love doing life together. Every day we think about how lucky we are that we both happened to get back on that stupid dating app at the same time.





On July 29th, 2023, Brett got down on one knee in front of both of our families. It was more special than words on this page can explain. Since then, we have been working on planning this huge party for all of our loved ones to come celebrate our journey with us!
