The Crazy Bunch
(The Brady Bunch Theme Song)
Here's the story, of a lovely lady, who was bringing up 3 kiddos on her own. Two of them were boys, and one a daughter. Her life was busy and always on the go.
Here's the story, of a man named Jason, who was raising a sweet daughter of his own. It was the two of them, and their puppy, but they were all alone.
Till the one day when they messaged each on Facebook, and they knew that it was much more than a hunch. That this group must somehow form a family. That's the way we all became this Crazy Bunch!!
OUR STORY
One day Jason decided he was going to reach out to me on Facebook! Our conversations started with simple messages like: What's new, how's the day, and what do you have going on this weekend. Then grew to: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years, what do you want in a future partner...You know, like all people that are getting to know each other play the 20 question game!! One of the questions also being, when do you want to hang out?! Finally, we did just that! :)
Jason came over to my house one night after getting home from his annual fishing trip with his brother and cousin. We sat on the porch conversating in front of the fire pit and just bullshitting about life!! We connected on so many levels and found out we enjoyed doing a lot of the same things and talked almost everyday after that.
We of course had talked about our kiddos to one another and at first, we were a little nervous to introduce each other to them because we didn't want it to be "too soon". After hanging out some more Jason gave me the ok to meet him, Kaydence, and one of her friends at the carnival in Sioux City. Kaydence got off of one of the rides and seen me standing there with Jason. Jason introduced me to Kaydence and she quickly said, Hi and they both ran away giggling and went to find the next ride. Jason and I continued to talk and followed the girls around for a while, till it was time to get the girls home. Jason texted me shortly after getting home telling me that Kaydence asked if I was coming over!! LOL :) Shortly after, Jason met my kiddos at my house while I cooked some supper, and the kiddos asked him all the questions. All of them of course asked when they could meet each other and play. We found a time that we both had the kids and got them together. One word to describe it was, CRAZY...But good all at the same time!!
Jason and I decided to make our relationship "Facbook" official in July of 2022. As in any relationship everything was new and exciting!! Jason and I spent the summer boating, camping in Ponca, and getting the kiddos together when we could.
WHEN WE KNEW..
In the beginning of August, Jason complained about stomach pain and not feeling well. We decided to go to the emergency room to find that his appendix was 3x the size and needed removed the next day. They admitted him and kept him in the hospital overnight. I ended up staying with him and we both fit ourselves in that hospital bed to wait for his surgery the next morning. I was so glad I decided to stay with him and help him over night, because he progressively got worse and was in so much pain. After a LONG night, The morning finally came and his mom and Kaydence met me at the hospital and waited while he went back for surgery. A surgery that was only supposed to last 30 minutes and leave the same day turned into a little over an hour!! Wondering what the hell was going on, the Dr. FINALLY came out and told us that his appendix was slowly leaking and he had to clean out all the infection. To be safe, Jason had to stay the next couple days in the hospital. We were finally able to see him and he was still out of it, but being fiesty as ever. I stayed there till Robin got back from taking Kaydence home and Jason told me to just stay at his house for the night because I had to drop some stuff off and had to work the next day. Leaving him there was probably one of the hardest things... I walked to my car, got in, and instantly started crying. I had this crazy/scary feeling come over me. It was one or two things, I was exhausted or I knew that I loved him right there and then... Or both!! I got to his house and was texting him, I was hesitant, but I ended up telling him about the feelings that I was having once I left the hospital. Waiting for him to respond I was relieved to hear him say he felt the same way!! (Even though he claims he doesn't remember hardly anything!! LOL!!)
Jason ended up staying in the hospital for a week!! I had a wedding that weekend and he literally got out of the hospital and drove to Omaha so he could come to Omaha. Then, the following weekend we made our first road trip to Colorado for my cousin's wedding!!
Jason wanted to wrap presents and get all the last-minute things for Christmas on a day we didn't have all the kiddos, that day was THE DAY!! I came home and got in my comfy clothes, or my "homeless look" Jason calls it (FUNNY part at the end about this) and we went to Walmart and came home and spent hours wrapping all of our presents. It felt like it took FOREVER, but we finally finished. Jason wanted to put all the presents under the tree and take a picture of what we achieved that night and send it to his mom. I found it a little weird that he wanted to take a picture, but I just went along with it and thought, AWHH he is trying to be all cute and stuff!! Well, we took a couple of pictures on a timer and he asked me to look and see if those were good enough. I went to the phone that was in front of me, checked out the pictures and said they were good enough. He said let's try one more. I set the timer, got myself in position next to him and he pulled out this green box and inside was a beautiful ring and asked me to MARRY him!! I, of course, cried and said YES!! I told him, I wish I looked a little nicer and he said, well that's why I asked if you were going to Walmart lookin' all homeless!! Haha, it ALL then made sense as to why he was questioning my choice in clothes!! :D
