Our Wedding

Bri and Steven's story starts in Mrs. Keller's Movies and Meanings in High School, circa January 2014. Bri sat diagonally behind Steven and quickly developed a crush on him as one of the only boys with long hair at the school. Unfortunately, Steven dropped out of the class 4 days after it started. Fortunately, Bri is persistent, and held that crush for a year until the school talent show that following December. Steven played a guitar piece in the talent show, and shortly thereafter she ~flirtatiously~ commented on Steven's instagram. A month later, Steven finally got the guts to message his phone number to Bri over Instagram. Shortly thereafter, they realized that Bri's birthday was on January 22nd, 1998 and Steven's was on January 21st, 1999. They made plans to hang out on January 23rd, 2015 to celebrate this occasion, which is also the day they consider the start of their relationship. Steven and Bri stayed together throughout high school, attending multiple proms and school dances together. Luckily, they both stayed in Pittsburgh to attend college (Bri majored in Film Studies at Point Park University, and Steven majored in Art History at Pitt), which made their relationship particularly easy. After Steven got into medical school in Philadelphia, they made the decision to move across the state together, arriving in the city in August of 2021. Bri and Steven knew fairly early on in their relationship that they would get married. On May 4th, 2024, Bri and Steven's friends Abby, Isabella, Kim, and Hannah "made plans" to go to a flower meadow in New Jersey to take pictures. Steven told the group he "had something come up for school" and said he could not make it, leaving the others to go without him. Fortunately, Steven is an excellent liar, and actually drove up separately to the meadow before Bri arrived. There, he set up an amp, microphone, and guitar in a small patch of trees and waited for the group. As he saw Bri began to walk towards him, Steven began to play Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie by Joanna Newsom, one of their favorite artists and one who they had seen together in concert less than a year into their relationship. After finishing the song, Steven got down on one knee and popped the question to Bri, to which she replied "Of course." Steven and Bri currently reside in Philadelphia. Steven is finishing his fourth year of medical school at Penn with plans to go into pediatrics. Bri has worked in various film departments on a variety of shows/movies that have been produced in Philly, including Hustle, Knock at the Cabin, Sinking Springs, and Task. They enjoy going to concerts, collecting cds/tapes/vinyl, cooking, watching movies, hiking, and hanging out with their friends.

Unfortunately, the weekend of our wedding is the same weekend as both Pitt's graduation and the Pittsburgh Marathon, and as such hotels/accommodations will likely be in higher demand. Hotels near Circuit Center are unfortunately much more expensive given their proximity to Pitt - hotels elsewhere in the city will likely be much cheaper. We also encourage you book sooner rather than later.

This is a quirky museum that features only installation art - from the likes of James Turrell, Yayoi Kusama, as well as a number of rotating artists at three separate buildings on the site. Steven and Bri had many dates here and it remains one of our favorite museums!

Mattress Factory

This is a lesser known collective known as The Troy Hill Art Houses - 3 stand alone homes in the troy hill area which have each been converted to unique, free to visit art installations. All are excellent - you have to book ahead for a free hour long tour at any (or all) of the homes using the website above!

La Hutte Royal (Art House)

A huge, multistory museum showcasing Andy Warhol's development as an artist. As well executed as one would hope. Another favorite date spot of Bri and Steven!

The Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History are both located within the same, beautiful building in Oakland, the neighborhood home to the University of Pittsburgh. Great art collection (Giacometti, Monet, Van Gogh, etc) and a stellar assemblage of dinosaur fossils (one of Steven's favorite places to go when he was a toddler).

Music/Venues

The best record store in Pittsburgh, hands down. Massive store, tons of new and used records and CDs with a particularly excellent new arrival bin that always takes much more of Steven's money than he intends. Also, great prices and extremely nice staff and located within one of the coolest neighborhoods in Pittsburgh (Millvale).

Attic Record Store Inc

A Pittsburgh institution. Literally a million used records, you can spend hours here digging. One of Bri and Steven's first dates!

Jerry's Records

The best venue in Pittsburgh. Bri interned here in College and Bri and Steven attended numerous concerts here together. Great sound, funky repurposed church vibes, and nice people.

Mr. Smalls Theatre

Another great venue. See what they have going on!

Thunderbird Café & Music Hall

Absolutely killer venue and bar, quintessential Pittsburgh vibe. Great place to see a show or just hang out and appreciate the wallpaper while indulging in cheap drinks and hot dogs.

The general "Strip District" area is super historical and quintessentially Pittsburgh. Tons of great restaurants and stores specializing in food, as well as a nice walk and taste of Pittsburgh black and gold culture.

Tiny movie theater which has a super eclectic list of films (new and old, all varieties, genres, and nationalities) they regularly show.

Steven's favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. Very casual korean takeout spot with sparse upstairs seating, the Chicken Katsu bowl fueled him in college. Another location can be found in Lawrenceville.

Oishii Bento

The best breakfast spot in Pittsburgh. Please order the Strawberry or the Chocolate and Banana pancakes. With a side of potatoes. There are others in Millvale, Dormont, Strip District, Shadyside.

Some of the best burgers in the city.

Moonlit Burgers Uptown

Best Ice Cream stand. Many of Bri's family members worked here growing up.

A Pittsburgh institution. The "fries and coleslaw on the sandwich" sandwich place. Appropriately rated as great, there's a million locations in and around the city.

Best pizza in the city (and top contender anywhere in the country, since that's not a very difficult achievement by itself).
