It all started thanks to two dogs, Brian’s pup, Penelope, and Brooke’s roommate's dog, Charlie, who became fast friends at the park. Their matchmaking skills paid off when Brian showed up at a house party. Sparks flew right away, but he left without getting Brooke’s number (rookie mistake!). Thankfully, roommate Taylor stepped in as the ultimate wing woman and made sure they reconnected.Their first date was axe throwing, where they bonded over a shared love of dad rock. Brian even let Brooke win a game, though she quickly told him never to do that again, and now she has lost every game since! From the very beginning, everything between them felt easy and natural, and that feeling has never changed.Fast forward to a hike with a breathtaking view of Mt. Hood, where Brian popped the question (which Brooke had a sneaky suspicion was going to occur because Brian never suggests going on hikes). It was the perfect moment to start the next chapter of their adventure. Now, they're excited to see where life takes them and keep creating memories together—Penelope, dad rock, and all.

Drive through the scenic countryside and stop at a number of fruit stands, lavender farms, and wineries! Some personal favorites are Draper Girls Country Store and Stave &amp; Stone Winery. The website offers a map of the route.

Explore the Hood River Fruit Loop

Just an hour from Hood River, Mt. Hood offers gorgeous summer hiking with wildflowers and sweeping alpine views. At its base sits the historic Timberline Lodge which is perfect for relaxing with a drink (and movie buffs might recognize it from The Shining).

Hike on Mt. Hood and explore the Timberline Lodge

Check out a number of waterfalls along the Columbia River Gorge. Some include limited walking, such as the iconic Multnomah Falls. Others offer an easy to moderate hike, such as Wahclella Falls (a personal favorite).

For the thrill-seekers, Hood River is one of the top kiteboarding spots in the world. Strong winds and stunning views make the Columbia River Gorge a playground for riders. Even if you’ve never tried it before, lessons and rentals are available Or, if you’d rather stay dry, grab a drink and watch the sky fill with colorful kites dancing across the water.

Just outside of Hood River, the Deschutes River is world-famous for its fly fishing. Anglers come from all over to chase trout and steelhead in its crystal-clear waters. Whether you’re an experienced fisher or want to book a guided trip to learn the basics, it’s a peaceful way to soak in the beauty of Oregon’s outdoors.
