Cassidy and Brian met through a mutual friend one night while out in Hoboken, NJ in 2014. The two became friends on social media (like the true millennials they are). A few comments were exchanged back and forth, but that was it between the two.
In 2018 Cassidy was planning a trip to Colorado to visit her cousin and see Dead and Company perform. She posted about her trip on Instagram and Brian who was residing in Boulder, CO, at the time messaged Cass the clapping hand emoji (again, true millennials).
Direct messages back and forth became text messages then calls. All of this was happening a few days before Cass's birthday. Brian shared he was coming home that same weekend for a wedding and would love to see Cass before heading back out west.
With nothing to lose, Cass met Brian in Mahwah at a restaurant called Roxanne's, where the two shared mimosas and talked so long, Brian almost missed his flight. A kiss was exchanged and from that moment on the two started a long distance relationship with Cass in Jersey and Brian in Colorado.
Cass made it clear she was not moving away from the east coast, and somehow convinced Brian to leave the beautiful mountains of Colorado, and come back to the east. After 6 months of lots of calls, FaceTimes, and long weekends together, Cass flew out to Colorado a few days before Christmas and drove cross country with Brian back to New Jersey just in time for the holiday. The best Christmas present ever.
Fast forward to July 2021, while on vacation in LBI, NJ, Brian popped the question to Cass while strolling along the beach. The weather was not on Brian's side that day; severe thunderstorms, flooding, and hail took place on the island and surrounding areas.
As soon as Brian took Cass to the beach after a romantic dinner the sun came out and sky cleared. Brian hired a photographer who got to capture Cassidy's truly shocked reaction. To top it all off, Brian orchestrated having both of their families there, and when Cass looked up at the dunes she saw the faces of the people who love them the most. Nature was on their side.
