Our story begins after a very long road of what seemed like never ending online dating. We were both about to delete the dating apps forever, when we stumbled across one another. Matt knew he recognized Brianna from leading worship at the Summit Church, where we both have attended for the last 6 years. We immediately found out that we just so happened to move to the triangle area the same month of the same year in 2018 after both finishing our doctoral programs. Matt gave Brianna several options to choose from as a first date spot. He suggested dinner, ice cream, or a walk around downtown Durham. With both of us having several failed first dates, we chose the less committed option of ice cream in downtown Durham at The Parlour. That seemed very low risk, with an option for an immediate escape if the date went south. We immediately hit it off, as we had so many things in common. We both realized that we each have twin sisters, and shared a love for golden retrievers as Matt showed Brianna a picture of a golden that came up for adoption that very day. After ice cream, we walked through downtown to the American Tobacco Campus by the waterfall and our conversation and immediate connection never ceased. Ever since that first date, our love for each other has only continued to grow as we have truly realized how God works to bring two people together in a long season of waiting. From our many hiking trips, beach trips, a couple of missed flights, serving others together at our church and in our community, we found a love that we are forever thankful for. Our story is just beginning, and we are so thankful for the many family and friends that have supported us along the way. We can’t wait to share our joy with you on our special day!
