The Magnaninis bottled their first 1,000 gallons for commercial sale in July 1984. Since then, production at the winery has reached to 6,000 gallons. The Magnanini Family has now been serving estate wines and home cooked meals at the winery restaurant for over 32 years. Specialties such as gnocchi, ravioli, cappelletti, salami, coppa, and prosciutto are all made by hand on premise. The restaurant is open to the public by reservation every weekend from April to mid-December.

Anthony's Nose Trailhead

The piece of Appalachian Trail that ascends from Route 9D towards the overlook at Anthony’s Nose feels like a 500-vertical-foot staircase. Features a well-maintained outdoor staircase that brings you to one of the nicest overlooks in the Hudson Valley, with a sprawling, rocky clearing that affords plenty of nice places to take it all in. It’s like you’ve scored tickets in the skybox for the Bear Mountain Bridge. This hike is only steep for the first .6 miles, then it’s smooth sailing all the way to Anthony’s Nose, following an old, relatively flat road for about .75 miles to the overlook.

Waterfront food and drinks. OLE SAVANNAH is located on the Historic Rondout at 100 Rondout Landing. The building is part of the former Cornell Steamboat Company shops. The Cornell Steamboat Company was the dominating towing company on the Hudson from 1880 to the 1930’s. The building was a “boiler shop”. Boilers for the ships were both built and repaired at this sight, which is located directly on Rondout Creek.

The Mountain Brauhaus has been run by family since its doors first opened in 1955. The third generation of the founding family is now at the helm; Mark Ruoff, along with his wife, Veronica, his sister Ilka and her husband, chef Kevin Casey. Each brings their own perspective and strengths to the restaurant. Kevin arrived at the Mountain Brauhaus in 1998. As head chef since 2002, he has added excitement to the menu with his scrumptious and inventive specials, many of which have become popular staples on the permanent menu. The four owners share a love of good food and drink, and try to present the best expression of the traditions laid out by their forebears.

Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site

Visit the nations first publicly owned historic site and tour the rooms where American history was made. In the critical months that General George Washington spent at Newburgh, he made some of his most important contributions to shaping the American republic. It was here that Washington rejected the idea of an American monarchy; ended the Newburgh Conspiracy, preventing potential military control of the government; created the Badge of Military Merit, forerunner of the Purple Heart; and circulated an influential letter to State Governors outlining the key principals he felt necessary for the new republic.


While visiting Washingtons Headquarters explore the Museum, which houses the award-winning exhibit, Unpacked & Rediscovered: Selections from Washingtons Headquarters Collection. The exhibit features over 1,300 objects highlighting Washingtons Headquarters diverse collections and is navigated by an electronic catalog system. Also, take a tour of the Tower of Victory and climb the steps to the newly restored belvedere. (Access to the Tower may be limited based on staffing and weather conditions.)
