Our Wedding

Brianna and I walked the halls of Plainville High School together for three years. We saw each other in the halls, at games, and at "Houser's farm," but we didn't notice each other until Fall of 2011 when we ran side by side at cross country practices. I thought she was cute, and she thought I was funny, but that was all for the time being.Fast forward to golf practices in Spring of 2012. After several days of innocent flirting on the greens, we started to carpool to practice every day. The flirting continued. During the middle of the season, I took a shot in the dark and asked her to go to Prom with me. She said yes. Four days after the dance, I asked her to go on a real date with me. She said yes, yet again, and we made our first date one to remember. It was full of laughter, Wendy's ice cream, and, of course, a movie at the theater. I failed to ask if she wanted popcorn, and she wasn't even upset. You could say she was a keeper from the beginning.

We Met

To be honest, I never knew when he planned on proposing; I just knew he planned on doing it sometime, and the clock was ticking. ;) But, the day of, I had a feeling.It was a normal Friday. I was leaving my third class of the day, and I got a message from Tyler asking where I wanted to go for dinner. My options were Harry's or Houlihan's -- the former being a very nice, very pricy restaurant -- and I chose Houlihan's "because we don't need to spend that much money on a regular night. We'll go there on a special night." Then, I realized that the only reason Tyler would suggest Harry's was if it was a special night. So, I decided to skip my last class of the day (shame on me!) to see what Tyler was up to. I came home to a clean-shaven, eager-looking face. He then asked if I wanted to go on a walk on campus after dinner. AHA! I knew it; he was going to propose. At least I thought I knew it.I remember eating my chicken strips (in retrospect, I wish I would have chosen a more "romantic" meal) and wondering when the heck he was going to get down on one knee. By the end of the dinner, I told myself not to get my hopes up. All he wanted to go on a walk for was to see the new building on campus. So, we went on our walk, and naturally, I started complaining about how cold it was getting. I just wanted to go home and sulk while watching Netflix. He said we had to make one more stop -- the 150th anniversary plaza in front of the most iconic building on campus, Anderson Hall.I grudgingly made the hike to Anderson with Tyler in tow. We stepped onto the plaza and looked around. And I kept looking around. And Tyler kept looking at me. I announced how awkward I felt and started questioning Tyler's sanity. I then got weak-kneed and realized that this was the moment. The moment that I'd remember for the rest of my life, the one that we'd tell our friends and family about. And while I was thinking about how this was the moment (YAY, FINALLY!!), Tyler had professed his love for me (I assume) and was waiting for an answer to his question. I ugly-cried and day-dreamed through a great proposal. Ha! Anyway, I of course said yes, and we plan on living happily ever after. :)

Jesse is my only brother. Growing up, I never had a chance. He always had me beat. Not once did I beat him in a game of Nascar and James Bond on the Playstation or in a game of gotcha last while running through the house, pushing our mother's patience to the edge (he was always the one to get in trouble). Jesse gave me my passion for the Braves and the Wildcats. He's taught me so much over the years and continues to, even if he doesn't know it. I wouldn't want anyone else to stand right next to me on the big day.

Danielle, my oldest sister, is a creative, talented person. She's the one who made me trade in my flare jeans and school T's for skinnies and cardigans, and for that, I couldn't be more grateful. ;) I love my family more than anything, so I've always considered her to be one of my best friends. I've asked her so many questions over the years, and now she's being bombarded with wedding questions because who knows anything about weddings? Not me! She's my friend, my shopping buddy, and now my matron of honor. I can't wait to have her by my side!

Todd and I were roommates our freshman and sophomore years in the dorms at K-State. Todd could tell some bad jokes that eventually turned into "Todd jokes" and I carried on stories too far until they got annoying for everyone, so we were a great fit for our 12 x 12 cube. Todd and I can make light of any situation, even when the cops and firemen are called to your door because of some midnight baseball. From our passionate cheering on of the Wildcats to our date nights with our girls, he's been by my side through it all.

Chelsea is my second oldest sister and the person who listens to all of my complaining - and I do a lot of that. She has always been one of my closest friends. I most likely spent more time hanging out with her and her kids in high school than I did with my friends. She's such a caring person and will do anything for family or a friend. It was obvious that she would stand by me on the big day. Of course, I couldn't pick between my two amazing sisters as to who would be my matron of honor... So, I have TWO! :)

Chelsea Garcia

Greg and I met freshman year in the dorms at K-State, and we have been picking on each other ever since. I've always referred to Greg as my little brother, even though he's older than I am. We have many rivalries in our friendship; my Braves always seem to rough up his Nats, his Wizards are never able to beat my Heat, and he's never beaten me in one of our infamous wrestling matches that seem to happen in the blink of an eye. It was without question that he would be a groomsman for me.

Greg Hilton

I haven't known Shelby for long, but I'm oh so glad that Tyler introduced us his Sophomore year of college. Being roommates in a house full of girls for a year, we learned a lot about each other. She's become one of my go-to girls, which, if you know anything about my social skills and friend collection, is saying something. She's the one who knows how to make you laugh when you want to cry. I know she'll always be someone that I can talk/complain to about the ongoing struggles of dealing with Tyler's frequent 12-year-old-boy mentality. ;)

Shelby Smith

I met Justin in my second year of the dorms at K-State. He's the kind of guy who is up for almost anything, mainly trying to get me to a country bar or stealing traffic cones. Even while living the good life and being a night owl, Justin has always been one of my most studious friends. I probably should have taken a page from his book on that one. He's a down-to-earth guy who cares about the people around him. He was the right choice to be with me for my wedding day, even if he is a Royals fan.

I've known Michelle since the summer before seventh grade. From the beginning, she's been a better friend than I could ever imagine being. For starters, she still talked to me after I completely embarrassed myself in front of her the first day we met. She never once kicked me out of her house, even though I would come over almost every single day after school for at least a full year. For some reason, she stood by my side through every silly thing I did in middle school and high school, and I couldn't be more thankful for her friendship. Did I mention she's hilarous? This girl's dry humor could make you laugh for days. Seriously, it was a no-brainer when I chose her to be a bridesmaid!
