Brianna and I met through mutual friends about a year before we started dating (2022). I don’t remember the specific occasion it was but she ended up coming to college station and our whole group of friends went out to northgate. We talked intermittently throughout the night but I remember when we got back to the house she started quizzing me on all the things we talked about, specifically her favorite color, (green) and her birthday, (November 8th) and her middle name (Nicole). While she listed off all the same things about me. She told me “we’re gonna be best friends, you need to know this stuff” in that moment I didn’t understand what she was saying to me and it took me a while to figure it out. We stayed in contact for that year and eventually started talking more and more at the beginning of 2023. In February a friend of mine asked if I wanted two tickets to the Brooks and Dunn concert at the rodeo, I said absolutely. Brianna was the first person I thought to ask, now this had to be MAYBE three days before the concert, she had to call in some favors and was able to come with me! I was nervous, especially for the drive to Houston, but it had to be some of the easiest conversation to keep going, it seemed like we couldn’t stop talking. A little more than a month later, April 7th 2023, I asked Brianna to be my girlfriend with tulips and Reese’s, her favorite flowers and favorite candy…the rest is history.

The Allen family always spends July 4th week at their cabin on Lake Travis, and it is a tradition I always look forward to. Kyle & I spent the entire week leading up to the proposal together & I didn't have the slightest clue what he was up to. Kyle took me and his Mom to get our nails done and it still didn't set off any alarms. Hence why I decided to get hot pink nails against Kyle's suggestion of French Tips....hindsight is 20/20 people that should have been a HUGE sign because what man knows anything about nails?! I remember jokingly saying later that night "I didn't get my nails done for a reason, right?". I can only imagine the panic racing through his mind behind that cool exterior staring back at me when he plainly replied back, "No, of course not".

Flash forward to July 7th..

The plan that day was to go to a Winery with Kyle, as well as his brother and sister in law. But as fate would have it, they were unable to make it. I was on the fence, and suggested that we just go home since Hurricane Beryl was due to make landfall later that day. Kyle was adamant that we still go and have a day date. I reluctantly agreed and got ready. While putting on my make up, I started to piece events of the weekend together, and thinking about how weird Kyle was being that day. I remember thinking "I am getting engaged today" then, laughing the thought off - but my suspicion was still there. Once I came back downstairs, Kyle suggested that we go take pictures down by the water. As we walked down, Kyle took me onto to his neighbors property where there is the most perfect view of the lake. We admired the view, as Kyle said "Remember when you said that we were going to be best friends?". I told him I did, as he lowered onto one knee & said "I didn't realize how right you were" as he promised me forever.
