The year is 2016. The Valraven is the new top coaster breaking the scene at “America’s Roller Coast”, Cedar Point. A young Brianna and Jack happen to be waiting in line when the ride breaks down. While all the patrons flee, Jack and Brianna stand their ground; determined to be first in line when the motorized train sounds its battle cry. Jack turns to Brianna to strike up their ride warrior conversation, probably mesmerized by her radiating beauty. They converse, utilizing mostly light conversation, until the ride is cleared to run. They lose each other in the heat of the track. Were they lost forever? Fear not. A young Jack was determined to find his brown haired beauty. He waits for her near the gates of the roller coaster park, hoping to catch her as the sun sets on the majestic Lake Erie. He sees her in the distance and runs her direction, determination in his stride. A shocked but intrigued Brianna engaged in more conversation with the handsome stranger, eventually exchanging “Snapchat” information; the most elite method of communication in 2016. It was a roller coaster from there. The two keeping in contact throughout the years and eventually visiting one another on and off from 2021. Their lives went on, with Brianna in college and establishing a career in Social Work; Jack in the Navy kicking major butt in his field as a Nuke. Never more than a phone call away. Brianna moved to North Carolina in 2023 and a sly Jack offered to help her move into her townhouse. They visited each other almost every weekend, and the rest is history. To our roller coaster ride Jack, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Roller Coaster Ride- Bri’s Version

Cedar Point, Summer of ‘16. It was one of many trips to cedar point of the years. One of many, but the only one I could say changed my life. The Valravyn, newest record breaking coaster at the world’s best roller coaster park, needed to be conquered. One obstacle stood in the way of that goal, however. Technical difficulties. The ride broke down. The experienced ride warrior I was, I did not fret. With each person that gave in to doubt and strode on to greener pastures, I advanced towards my goal. I guess you could say, then, that stubbornness brought us together. I moved up, and up, and up…and then I saw her. She was gorgeous, and just a couple spots ahead. Shy as I was, I stole glances in her direction. And then the people between us faltered, and she was in front of me. I struck up the conversation, uncharacteristic of me at the time, and we talked. Too soon, the ride started up again, and it split us apart. She got on the car ahead of me, and was gone. My friend and I went to conquer other rides, but my regret started to mount as the day went on. When we began to make the journey to the parking lot, a nagging hope in my head had me scanning the bustling crowd to a brown haired beauty, as if searching for a needle in a haystack, a diamond in the rough, or Waldo. We reached the front entrance, and my hope was all but gone. And there she was. The only word to describe it was serendipitous. Long years went by. Years of growth and learning and changing. It was over three years until I saw her again, all the while she remained in that corner of my mind. I visited her in Lansing, and even after all that growing and change, the connection was undeniable.
