Our Wedding

We technically went to college together at the University of Northwestern, same small campus, same education major, but somehow, we never actually met! We didn’t share a single class, and our paths never crossed.Funny enough, Matthew met Brianna’s parents before he ever met her, at a wedding, of all places! Just about a week later, we finally met in person at a teacher orientation. After about a month into school Matthew reached out to Brianna through an instagram post from a Vikings game. Brianna had a feeling something was up, but everyone around her insisted, “he’s just being friendly."Sure enough, less than a week later, he asked her out to a Twins game. Brianna had planned to say no... but when he asked, she couldn’t help but say yes. Our first date was at a Twins game that went into 13 innings (extra time to get to know each other, right?). We spent most of the game dodging a coworker sitting a few rows ahead and students a few sections back, and we almost ended up on the big screen! But somehow, we managed to stay incognito, and the night was a success. The date went so well that by our third one, Matthew invited Brianna to his family cabin on Madeline Island for AppleFest. She met lots of extended family!Eventually, our students did find out we were dating—thanks to one who spotted Brianna in Matthew’s car. She didn’t have a very convincing excuse. From there, we made so many wonderful memories together: a sunny trip to Arizona, holiday celebrations like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter, and countless family gatherings filled with laughter, good food, and the people we love most. About a year later, we went on a trip with Brianna’s family to Boston, Maine, and Nova Scotia. One perfect day in Acadia National Park, overlooking the ocean, Matthew proposed. Brianna said yes!

Dress Code

Our wedding will have a simple, floral spring vibe with soft blue accents and a relaxed, elegant feel. Dress code is semi-formal / cocktail attire.For women: cocktail dresses, midi/maxi dresses, or dressy separates are perfect.For men: suits, blazers with dress pants, or khakis are all welcome; ties are optional.If you would like to coordinate with our wedding colors, soft blues, florals, pastels, and light spring tones would fit beautifully. Please avoid wearing white or jeans.We are hoping to have our ceremony outdoors, so we recommend lighter fabrics and comfortable spring attire. Minneapolis evenings can still be cool, so feel free to bring a light wrap or jacket.
