Knowing someone who knows someone, sums up the story of how we met quite well! Little did we know that as time passed, we had more mutual friends than we thought, which made it ironic that between all the people we collectively knew, we still had never met before. However, as they say, we happened to be in the right place at the right time and finally met!

So here goes the actual story!

Back in September 2023, there was a Calabrese Wine Tasting Event that happened, in which Brianna was part of the board who was putting on the event, and Francesco attended as a guest. A mutual friend introduced us, Brianna as the Nurse and Francesco as the Plumber. The night carried on, and we chatted a bit here and there. Francesco sampled different wines with Brianna's dad, which at the time, he didn't know it was her dad, and then at the end of the night with both went our ways. The fun fact, Brianna didn’t know she was indirectly “getting set up that night”, and Francesco finally came to an event after he had been bugged to attend, as the mutual friend had been trying to introduce the two of us at various events in the past but the timing never worked!

For the week following the event, Francesco was repetitively bugged about “texting the girl he met at the event” since he got Brianna's number from the mutual friend but hadn’t quite mustered up the courage to do it. Finally, on September 27th, his birthday, he caved and sent the text saying it was Francesco from the Wine Event and wondered if Brianna wanted to grab a drink some time.

Brianna was surprised at first that he had texted, but said yes to hanging out the following week, upon his return from Radium. Francesco picked Sorella's as the first date over the Thanksgiving long weekend, since if anyone knows Brianna, she never picks locations for food. Now while Brianna would say she was shy and nervous, if you ask Francesco, he’ll tell you that she didn’t stop talking the entire first date, which to Francesco’s delight, settled the nerves.

Everyone can probably guess by now that we hit it off and went on many more dates in the weeks and months to come. Over time, Brianna learnt about Francesco’s love for Lego, though most of his original sets were back in Italy. She bought him a Lego Christmas tree and a small Ferrari to start, which reignited Francesco’s passion for Lego, and then Brianna discovered a love for Lego as well, arguably enjoying it more than Francesco does.

Some may ask the importance of Lego in this whole story…. Well fast forward about 6 months and on May 10, 2024, Francesco proposed using Lego as part of the proposal!
