The YES day💍

"will you marry me?"

The yes day officially happened on July 14th, 2023!! It was truly the best day ever!! Brennan and Bri were supposed to hangout with Brennan’s sister and brother in law, and Bri’s sister and her boyfriend that evening. We were planning on going to dinner and spend much needed quality time together.

The day came and we couldn’t decide where we all wanted to eat that evening. When we got in the car to head there, we were going the complete opposite direction of where Bri thought we were going but decided to just go with the flow. We picked up Chloe and Nick at Bri’s parents house where Brennan told us we were going to Wolfies and he had a reservation for 7:00pm, even though Bri isn’t the biggest fan of Wolfies, lol. She was just excited to see some of her favorite people and spend the evening laughing and catching up with everyone. Back up to earlier in the day, Chloe who is Bri’s younger sister had been messaging her all day saying how she wanted Bri to dress up tonight so we could take “cute sister pictures” and document our fun night out together. Bri (still having literally no clue that Brennan would be proposing) wanted to wear a cute outfit but nothing too fancy. Brennan continually told Bri to put on the pink dress (I think it’s his favorite 🥹) before we left the house even though Bri really wanted to wear something more casual, but she decided what the heck, just wear the cute dress.

As we were pulling up to Wolfies, it was 6:40pm and Brennan’s sister messaged us saying there was a 45 minute wait (which Bri immediately questioned because Brennan just said we had a reservation for 7pm). Bri responded by saying we have a reservation so we shouldn’t have to wait and Haleigh covered up by saying they were busier this evening than they expected when making the reservation. Bri, being the most completely gullible person ever thought that’s exactly what was going on and didn’t think twice about having to wait. After all, we were all dressed up and Wolfies is on the water so we decided since the sun was setting on Morse Reservoir, just to waste time taking pictures on the boat dock where Brennan’s parents have their boat.

Haleigh and Tyler texted us saying they were at the end of the boat dock and saw lots of baby turtles on the end of the dock. Bri immediately got excited and wanted to go check out the little ones. As we were walking up onto the dock, Bri said outloud, “Brennan this would be a cute place to propose” NOT HAVING A CLUE he was actually going to propose MINUTES later!!!

Bri brought her tripod to take pictures since her and Chloe decided earlier in the morning we would take some cute “sister” pics. Bri set up her tripod and Brennan offered to take ours first so he could get them done with - typical guy thing to say about taking pictures HAHA — still, Bri had no idea. Bri got her tripod set up and took a few pictures of her and Brennan. Haleigh, Tyler, Chloe, and Nick were standing back behind the tripod as Bri went up to look at the pictures and make sure they turned out how she wanted. As Bri was looking at the pictures on her phone, she remembers it getting really quiet and seeing everyone holding their phones up at her but not putting it together until after the fact that he was getting on one knee behind Bri. As Bri turned around to tell Brennan we needed to take another picture together, he was on one knee. Bri was in SHOCK!!! It all happened so fast but poor Brennan was on a knee for what seemed like an eternity because Bri couldn’t get any words out. For the first time ever, she was speechless.

Brennan was smiling ear to ear on one knee. It was the best memory ever seeing him holding the open ring box as he was smiling and asking Bri to marry him. In laughter, pure joy, tears in her eyes, and the biggest smile in the world, Bri said yes. Shaking hands and all, Bri and Brennan gave each other the biggest hug ever and truly embraced the moment. Everyone was cheering and so excited for our special moment. There was even a boat leaving their dock behind us and they were honking, waving, and cheering for us. It was truly the most special moment of our lives. Bri was so excited to show her sister her beautiful ring and the first thing Chloe said to Bri was “wow bri, it’s real! It’s a real engagement ring” and we just embraced the moment together. Of course, Bri continued with taking pictures and hugging everyone. The next surprise was when Brennan said we didn’t have a reservation to Wolfies and we were planning on eating there either.

So we got in the car and Brennan told his sister to meet us at Wings etc. where we were actually going to eat. On the way there, Bri was so excited and completely in shock still at how beautiful her ring was and the fact that her and Brennan were now an engaged couple! It was the most purest moment and so full of joy and love. Brennan, again, was driving an odd way to get to the restaurant and Bri continued questioning him but he didn’t have a solid explanation and kept trying to change the subject. Brennan had Bri’s phone in his pocket because he grabbed it before we left the boat dock and Bri asked him if she could call her parents and he said, “just wait Bri. We will see them later tonight.” We continued driving and ended up in the parking lot of Carey Tavern so Bri just figured we were getting drinks to celebrate but nothing fancy. When we walked in, there was an entire section of family, friends, and the people Bri and Brennan are closest to cheering and clapping. Bri was so surprised and couldn’t believe how many people were there to surprise us and celebrate our recent proposal/engagement!! There were cupcakes, balloons, tons of appetizers and food, cute banners with pictures of Brennan and I throughout our relationship, a ring and just engaged balloon and it was so surreal! Brennan pulled off yet another incredible surprise!! The manager at Carey told Bri that night that Brennan had called them multiple times throughout the week and that day to make sure they could accommodate so many people and prepare the food and tables ahead of time. She said Brennan was so excited to have everyone there celebrating with us and wanted it to be perfect - and it was!

It was truly the most perfect night ever. I couldn’t have dreamed of having a more perfect or amazing proposal. We were surrounded by our sweetest friends and family and the entire night was more than I could’ve asked for. I am one lucky, lucky girl!!
