What do I need to be able to travel from the USA to Italy?

You must have a Passport Book to travel from the USA to Italy, and back. If you do not have one, please submit your application soon. Typically, you can submit the passport application online through your local post office. Then you will have to schedule an in person meeting at the local post office. You will need to follow all of the instructions carefully of what information and documentation are required for the application and in person meeting. Thereafter, you should receive your passport within approximately three (3) months. Please be sure that even if you already have a passport, that you confirm it has not expired and is a Passport Book.

Where should I fly into Italy?

BDS (Brindisi) airport. This is the closest airport to the wedding venue, however, it is roughly an hour drive away.

Do I need a rental car?

You should likely rent a vehicle for your stay; however, if you are unable to do so, please let us know so we can assist with your transportation to and from the airport, hotel, and wedding venue.

Do you have hotel blocks?

No, we do not. However, under the "Travel" tab on our website, you will find our top recommendations of places to stay.

Where should I stay while in Italy for the wedding?

There is more information on this website under the "Travel" tab, but Angelo and I recommend the following places: La Casa del Fico, Villa La Meridiana, Montiro Hotel, Grand Hotel L'Approdo, or Cala Saracena.

What is the wedding itinerary?

The day of the wedding, you should arrive at 5 PM to Gibo. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served as guests arrive. The ceremony will start at 5:30 PM. When the ceremony is done, everyone will go to the banquet room for dinner and dancing. After dinner and dancing, there will be a special cake cutting. The wedding is expected to end at approximately 1 AM. The bride and groom leave for their honeymoon early September 21, 2025.

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Semi-formal/Formal. Men do not need to wear a tuxedo. The wedding venue has some cobble stone areas and steps, so ladies may want to keep this in mind when choosing heels. PLEASE DO NOT WEAR ANY SHADES OF WHITE (cream, eggshell, ivory, etc.).

What will the weather be like in Italy?

Hopefully sunny and 70! The weather typically is in the 70's in Italy during September. It rarely rains and is not too humid. However, when packing and planning your outfit for the wedding, be sure to check the weather online to get a better reading on what to expect.

What is the best way to communicate with people who speak a different language while traveling and at the wedding?

Believe it or not, it's easier than one would think to communicate with people who do not speak the same language as you. Especially at a celebration for a loved one's wedding. However, if you want to be able to hold a conversation, you should download the GoogleTranslate application to your phone. You can easily speak into your phone to translate, translate photos of words in a different language (for example, a menu), or type what you want to translate. The translation is not perfect, but it works well enough to understand the written language and enjoy a deep conversation.

What are some other areas in Italy I should travel to?

We highly recommend extending your stay while visiting Italy. Rome is life-changing with it's immersive history. You can book tours through "Roman Tour Guy" for great experiences. Venice is another must-see in Italy. The Almalfi coast is known world wide for it's beautiful views. We stayed on the island of Ischia and truly enjoyed the local atmosphere. Capri is another well known island near Ischia. Alberobello is a location near the wedding venue which is a beautiful sightseeing location, famous for its Trulli homes. You can travel with a rental car or by flight. There are also trains and buses that can get you where you'd like to go. Please take time to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience! The food, the people, and the scenery are all fantastic.
