Our Story

Welcome

Hello family and friends!

We are so happy and excited to share our special day with you! We have created this website to keep everyone updated with the information that will be useful while we plan our wedding. We have people scattered all over the country, and we know you all have busy lives. It means so much to have all of our family and friends loving and supporting us!

How They Met

Picture of How They Met

Bridget and Vashil were both in school at Valpo in the Fall of 2011 when they first met, while playing pick-up basketball. Bridget had gone with a friend that played on the women's team, and Vashil was there with some of his teammates. They crossed each other's path again later that week at Valpo After Dark, where Vashil insisted Bridget hand off all of her stuff to friends, so that she could race him on one of the large bounce house obstacle courses. I think we all know who won. Finally when they ran into each other at the Volleyball game the next week, they decided it was time to get serious about pursuing one another. They spent the entire evening together. After that night, a date was planned, and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Picture of The Proposal

Bridget and Vashil's proposal was truly a grand gesture. It was Senior Night for Valpo Men's Basketball, and all of Bridget's family was in town to celebrate and walk Vashil onto the court. Bridget had a slight suspicion that the big question was around the corner, but she was not prepared for how soon and how grand it would be delivered. After a Valpo win, the seniors were able to say a few words. Vashil went last and shared how God and family had really helped him get through his last four years. He slowly transitioned to talking about how instrumental Bridget had been over his time at Valpo. He then invited her to go down to the court where he was standing. At that point, everyone had a pretty good idea of what was coming. Bridget, being the shy person that she is, was clearly nervous. Once she made it to the court (after a little pushing from the sidelines) Vashil got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together. Of course she said yes, and the crowd, along with all of Vashil's teammates, was ecstatic!
