The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Please check the forecast before your arrival and be prepared for varying temperatures, potential rain or even snow depending on the season. Also something to keep in mind, you are a mile closer to the sun! Bring layers, sunscreen and appropriate outdoor gear for potential changes in weather. Preparing for all four seasons is a necessity in Colorado, especially in the mountains.
Do I need to be prepared for higher altitude in the mountains?
Yes. Estes park is at 7,500 feet above sea level (our venue is at 8,296 feet). Guests who are not accustomed to high altitudes may experience altitude sickness. Symptoms include headache, nausea, fatigue and dizziness. It is important to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activities upon arrival and consider speaking to a physician if you have pre-existing conditions.
***Alcohol consumption at a higher altitude can intensify the effects. Remember to pace yourself and drink a lot of water before and during the event. Your safety then enjoyment are our top priorities.
Will I see any wildlife?
It is highly likely you will see wildlife! Colorado is home to various wildlife, such as bears, elk, deer, big horn sheep, and moose. Please respect local wildlife by keeping a SAFE distance, not feeding animals, and following ALL posted guidelines. Remember to secure food and trash to avoid attracting animals.
How is the cell service?
In certain areas of Estes Park and the national parks, cell service may be spotty or unavailable. Plan accordingly, especially when traveling to remote locations.
How much water should I drink?
A LOT!!!! At sea level, we're supposed to consume 2-3 liters (4-8 cups) of water daily. At this altitude, we need to consume 3-5 liters (12-20 cups) daily. Prepare your body for the higher altitudes by increasing your water/electrolytes consumption at least a week prior to travel.
