Actually, it’s kind of a funny story. When Brightyn was a drum major and Keagan played snare drum for their high school marching band, Keagan asked the upperclassmen around him about the cute redhead up on the podium. Aforementioned cute redhead did not notice the handsome snare drum player… for like another 2 months. Oops! That’s ok, though, because Brightyn and Keagan shared a study hall and began going to the same church small group. One day, in December before Christmas break in 2017, snow was falling hard and school got let out early so students could get home safely. Handsome snare drum player ran across the entire high school parking lot through a foot and a half of snow to grab his snow scraper to help the cute redhead with her car. Brightyn knew in that moment Keagan was no longer just another member of band…

In Keagan’s words, “It sucked”. Keagan and Brightyn learned the importance of honest communication, trust, laughter, and undivided attention and time. For the majority of their relationship Brightyn was 2 hours away at school (in Waukesha) and Keagan was home attending NWTC and transitioning into the workforce. I think that is all we need to say here.

Ok, so Brightyn would like to share with everyone that Keagan did his absolute best to surprise Brightyn with the engagement of her dreams. However, she predicted her engagement down to the day and time during Spring Break 2 1/2 months prior. It’s ok though. Keagan pulled off a beautiful engagement up at Brightyns cottage, surrounded by both families. Keagan asked Brightyn to take a walk to the end of the dock, as they often do, and then he got down on one knee and asked Brightyn to be his wife. Brightyn and Keagan dont know exactly what they want to do with their lives, but they do know that they want to spend it with each other (Cue cheesy swoon). In reality though, Keagan has a solid job in the maintenance department at Belmark and Brightyn wants to find a job as a Pediatric Physical Therapist. Brightyn and Keagan can not wait for silly late nights and god-filled mornings together as husband and wife. They are so excited to find a home and collaborate on home improvement projects. Also, they can’t wait to explore the world together. Here’s to the future Mr. and Mrs. Handrich!
