1) Things to do in Goa
We will let you do the research on must see spots in Goa but from our perspective Goa is the ultimate party destination in India with bars/shacks/clubs mostly on the beach (we like to describe it as Vegas with a beach).
Casinos are not allowed on the mainland and hence there is a huge cruise casino culture in Goa (cruises that you can walk onto docked to the mainland). Goan cuisine is unique and must try for seafood enthusiasts. Goa was a Portuguese territory until very recently and hence there are churches, forts and other spots with Portuguese influence to visit as well. North and South Goa are very different and each deserving a visit!
2) Extended trip options to India
We understand that for those making the long trip to India - it maybe worthwhile extending trip to see other areas. Here are our recommendations:
a) Agra/Jaipur and Ranthambore (North India) also referred to as Golden Triangle: These are likely the most visited spots in India. Agra has a wonder of the world the Taj Mahal and many monuments. Udit's family is from here and hence he would be happy to guide you and potentially meet if dates align. Jaipur is a historic city also called the "pink city" with lots of culture inspired by the desert. Ranthambore is the national tiger reserve for the "Bengal Tiger from India. This option would be great for those planning to fly into Delhi. November usually is start of the winter and there is a risk of slightly poor air quality in Delhi (should not be a concern in other cities). We would recommend masks if this may bother you during your time there. Besides air quality the weather will be very pleasant in November. These spots are close together and can be done together in a 2 week or less trip. For an even longer trip, Rajasthan has multiple other places to visit for a such as Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer for lots more culture, lakes, dessert safaris and amazing Rajasthani cuisine.
b) Kerala: Kerala is in South India (same as Goa) and the culture is very different from the North. Kerala can be accessed easily from Mumbai, Bangalore or Goa airports. Backwaters in Kerala are a very unique and hot destination and it also has amazing beaches. Goa has a 99% literacy rate and hence one of the most developed states in India. This can be a short trip option during our trip to Goa.
We would recommend not going to the mountains/Himalayas given the winter season.
If you are planning to take an extended trip, do reach out to Udit or Brinda as they can group you with other travellers from the wedding party and refer you to travel agents who provide rental cars (that come with chauffeurs in India!) and other travel help.
