FAQ

What day should I arrive in Palermo?

That's up to you! We don't have any official event before the wedding on Thursday, 8/29, but if you are flying straight from the States keep in mind you may be jetlagged (6 hr difference east coast and 9 for west). Give yourself a couple of days to adjust. Arrive EOD Monday or Tuesday morning.

Any tips for booking flights?

Assuming you're not planning on stopping anywhere on the way, our suggestion is to check if your departing airport has a direct connection to Italy (Milan or Rome). If not, look for a major European city instead (eg: Paris, London, Frankurt, Munich, Zurich). From whichever European city you flew into, you'll book another ticket from there to Palermo (Falcone Borsellino). IMPORTANT: Make sure that your flight to Palermo departs from the same airport you flew into (a few of these cities have multiple airports so double check).

Where do you suggest I stay?

Check out our travel page! It's up to you. The City Center is beautiful, bustling and walkable. But, it's hot and you're in Sicily near beautiful sea. We recommend our US friends & family stay in Mondello area. Both are a good choice in their own way. TIP: Try to find a place that has air conditioning!

What documents do I need to travel?

A valid passport that does not expire within 90 days after your intended travel dates. Don't wait on this! The later in the year, the busier it gets and expediting it could be costly.

Will there be any welcome event?

We will not have an official Welcome event, but may share a location closer to the date in case you'd like to informally meet us somewhere the night before. But, we'd rather you rest and be ready for a late night on Thursday. :)

Where else in Sicily should I visit?

There's so much to do and see . The island of Sicily is huge and can't possibly be covered in one trip (plus there are many other smaller islands off the coast). We're working on a Sicily guide of our favorite spots and will soon share. We recommend you stay longer after our wedding vs before, as August is a very busy month (and hot!) and a lot of Europeans travel to Sicily and things are also closed. September is less touristy and cools off a little bit so you can enjoy everything more.

How should I get around?

Check out our Travel page - we have some thoughts.

Will there be transportation to the wedding?

Yes. Please visit our Travel page for details.

Is there any other event outside of the August 29th wedding?

Yes, we plan to have a Farewell Aperitivo on Friday, August 30th at Plait Mare at 7PM.

What shoud I wear to the wedding?

It's not Black Tie, but we ask you to dress formal (suit/tie and cocktail dresses). Keep in mind it will be very hot, so pick fabrics/materials accordingly. Ladies must cover their shoulders in the church for the ceremony - consider bringing a very light shawl.

Do I need to bring cash?

You're able to pay with a card almost everywhere, but it's always good to have cash on you - especially if you want to buy things from street and beach vendors. You can easily withdraw cash at ATMs you see around.

Do you have Palermo recommendations?

Yup! Check out our Palermo Guide and Vincenzo's Michelin Food Guide. We definitely recommend googling Palermo and things you typically like to do - you'l find a lot of suggestions that cover sight seeing, food, art and local cultural activities. Let's be honest - Instagram, TikTok and blogs are great search engines, too.

What should I wear to the Farewell Aperitivo?

Summer sundress/shorts/cute shirt/linen pants. Think of it as as a summer backyard party by the sea.

How late will the wedding go?

Italian weddings are later than most American weddings. The church ceremony will be late afternoon, followed by an aperitivo when you arrive to Torre Garbonogara. After aperitivo we will transition into the Grand Buffet. A lot of people will assume it's dinner - it's not. Pace yourself. The Sicilians love their food and a sit down dinner will follow the buffet. We'll dance, and then move on to dessert. The dancing and partying will likely go until around 2:30AM. We'll provide transportation earlier as well.
