Brittany + Jordan

July 28, 2018 • Glasgow, KY

Details

Our love story begins with our freshman year of high school on February 14, 2011. We had been friends for a few months and had started to "like" each other. Seeing as how we were fourteen at the time, we were much too awkward to simply ask the other on a date. So, the bride to be devised a plan with one of her friends to get Jordan to "go out with her". The plan was to have the friend pass a note to Jordan during class saying, "You should ask Brittany out." This way, if he didn't want to, it wouldn't look like her idea. Speed forward a little bit, and Jordan hands Brittany the note at her locker and asks what she thinks about it. Even though she knew this was coming, the only reply that entered her mind was "awesome-sauce". Did I mention we were awkward fourteen year olds?

Here we are seven years later, and we've experienced so much of life's milestones together. We're forever grateful to God for writing our love story, and we can't wait to see what He has in store for us in our marriage!

"Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite."

The Proposal

He asked, and I said yes!

https://www.facebook.com/britt...A couple of weeks prior to our engagement, Jordan and I were shopping when we decided to buy an engagement ring. We had been discussing the idea of someday getting married since we were sixteen, and at this point, we were almost five years into our relationship and knew that we were meant to be. A few weeks later, we're notified that my ring came in, so we drive to the jewelry store to pick it up and make sure that it fit and that everything looked okay. I begged to wear it until we got back to campus, and he agreed with the condition that I give it back to him so he can properly ask at a later date. I was under the impression that I was going to have to wait until New Years Eve for him to propose, so I was blind sighted by what actually ended up happening.

The morning of December 5, 2015 started out like any normal morning. I was scheduled to work from 8-12 that day, and I hit snooze a few too many times leaving myself maybe 20 minutes to get ready and out the door. My roommate/maid of honor is awake at this point and starts making comments and questions that basically amount to "Are you sure this is the look you want to go out with today?" I should add that Emily was in on the proposal and was only trying to get me to look decent for the occasion, but at the time I couldn't have cared less.

I end up making it to work on time (barely), only to have my first student not show up. At this point I'm starting to get a little irritated with how my morning is going, but I make it through the rest of my shift. I start to pack up my stuff to get ready to go, and I end up having to stay later because a student showed up unexpected and there were no other tutors. I was supposed to be in Glasgow at 1:30 to set up for a parade, so having to stay over later was really not what I was wanting to add into my already pressed for time schedule. Finally, another tutor comes in to take over the student, and I'm able to leave. As I get back to my dorm room, I realize that all the spots in my dorm's parking lot have been taken by visitors coming to watch the football game, causing me to have to park on the other side of campus and walk to my dorm.

Frustrated, I call Jordan to vent about how crazy my morning had been. He calms me down and jokingly asks if I "need a hug" (This is what he's referring to when he asks if I "want that hug now" in the proposal video). Little did I know what was waiting for me when I walked into my dorm room. I would explain what happens next, but I think the video speaks for itself. (The video is in the Facebook link at the beginning of this post)
