The air was heavy with the damp mist and the chill March mornings bring. The landscape held the picturesque view of rolling hills, looming barns and large shadows grazing out on the pastures. The icy chill of winter gripped the land, yet the warm presence of spring was on the horizon. It was here that fate tempted our lives to intertwine. Norman worked diligently tending to the barns, horses and all things maintenance. Brittany entertained various couples and families out on the trails. Both living their passion working with horses, both aware of the other, but never crossing paths. Norman was known as the elusive, quiet, steady farmhand, Brittany the bubbly, caring, and newbie to the team. Our colleagues noted that we may be a match, but our time at Glen Oro was short, as fate had other plans for our growth, but it was a starting point for our love, perhaps unbeknownst to us.

Fast forward a year and a bit, we found ourselves searching for our companion to travel life’s path with. As with most things in life, we delved into the digital world of dating apps, trying to find someone of like mind. Many, many swipes later, at the point of giving up, Brittany came across a profile that caught her eye and captured her heart. A man who has a soft spot for horses? A man with similar values and goals? A man, incredibly handsome, has a dog and comes from a farm family? Taking a chance, she swiped right.

On the other side of the screen, with a host of lacklustre and non-conversationlist attempts, Norman was reaching his breaking point when he happened across a profile that captured his attention and his heart. A woman who embraces animals and life? A woman with similar values and goals? A woman with devotion for her loved ones and agriculture? Taking a chance, crossing his fingers, he swiped right.

Of course, fate’s second attempt at bringing two souls together finally worked, they matched.

It was a breath of fresh air for both of them and quickly, Norman realizing what an anomaly this woman was, boy asked girl on a date.

The night was cool, dark and damp, as two figures walked closer towards Hooligans in downtown Barrie. Meeting precisely just outside, warm light shone when Brittany smiled at Norman, saying hello. The conversation flowed and one hour blended into the next. Closing the bar, Norman walked Brittany to her car, kissed her goodbye, and never saw her again…

Just kidding, Brittany flew down to the Dominican for baseball for a week, and since then they’ve been inseparable. Their love blossomed and within the first month of dating, they knew this was something real.

Life threw everything it could at them in a short duration, and together they took on the world.

Jumping ahead to March 2025, after months of plotting, Norman asked the age old question, Dennis, will you allow me the honour of marrying your daughter? To which Dennis replied, thank goodness, please take her off my hands! Okay, so maybe that’s not quite how it went down… but of course, Norman didn’t even need to ask, Brittany was all in, already planning the wedding.

It took a long time for these two to find their person, but when they did, the wait was worth it!
