Altea

Nicknamed the "Santorini of Spain," Old Altea is a charming historic hilltop town with pretty whitewashed buildings, cobblestone streets, restaurants and art galleries. Its famous Navy-domed Church of El Consuelo is well worth a visit and has great views of the coast. Altea’s white pebble beaches and marinas also provide plenty of offshore opportunities.

There are popular cycling and hiking trails up in the hills above the town for those wanting more active pursuits. The snorkelling is great at the nearby Playa La Olla, or you can enjoy walking along the coast on Altea’s boardwalk to the Playa del Roda and beyond. Las Fuentes del Algar (The Algar Waterfalls) and crystalline waterholes, are also a short trip inland.

Nearby attractions:

Calpe

A 10 minute drive further up the coast is the beachfront town of Calpe with its sandy beaches, Roman baths, vineyards and churches.

A little further up the coast you will find Moraira, which has beautiful sandy beaches and a marina. It also has a Medieval Fortress, the Castillo de Moraira.
