Our Wedding

In 2017, a "witty guy" was working at Telltale Games in San Rafael, CA. Down the street, there was a local coffee shop called Red Whale. The witty guy would go there every afternoon for a cold brew and a chat with the baristas. One, in particular, caught his eye. The "cute coffee chick" became a motivation for him to never miss his afternoon coffee break. But one day, the cute coffee chick told the witty guy she was quitting her job and starting law school across the bay...so she guessed she would never see him again. With panic in his heart and a twinkle in his eye, the witty guy spun his phone around and said, "well, I guess you'll have to give me your number." Later that week, the witty guy took the cute coffee chick out on a picnic date. He bought them sandwiches from a local deli and was nice to her dog. They spent the afternoon at Secret Park, talking and laughing for hours. The cute coffee chick moved across the bay, but they kept in touch. She told her roommate, Lauren, about the witty guy and often asked for advice on how to respond to his text messages. A couple weeks later, the cute coffee chick was supposed to meet the witty guy at his house in Petaluma. She was to arrive at 7pm and they were going to walk to a local pizza restaurant for dinner. Things went awry (it's a long story we'll tell you later), the witty guy opened his front door looking disheveled and wearing pajama bottoms. He invited her inside and things went from bad to worse. The night ended when the witty guy brought up a wrestling move in conversation and then showed the cute coffee chick what it was by picking her up and tossing her on her head. She left immediately and vowed to never see him again. After the cute coffee chick tried to gently ghost the witty guy, Lauren convinced her to give him one more chance and invite him out with them to First Fridays in Oakland. Thankfully, when he arrived, the witty guy redeemed himself and the two have been together ever since. And now, you're invited to their wedding! (But if it weren't for Lauren, perhaps none of us would be here--so cheers to her!)

Fort Bragg is probably our favorite place in the whole world and we cannot wait to share it with all of you! Getting there can be a little tricky because there is no Fort Bragg airport. If you're flying, the closest airport is in Santa Rosa, CA and then you will need to rent a car and drive about 2 hours north from there. You can also fly into the Oakland or San Francisco airport and drive the rest of the way from there. The roads are a bit windy, so take it slow and please be safe! We have reserved rooms at the two hotels listed below in order to facilitate the shuttle service. There is limited parking at Jean's house, so we are trying to limit cars to the wedding party and vendors only. If you need to drive to the venue, please let us know so we can find you a parking spot. If you stay at a different hotel, please also let us know so we can arrange your travel to the wedding.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Beach House Inn. You have to call to reserve a room within the block. This hotel will have shuttle service to and from the wedding.

Travel

The skunk train is a fun activity, for kids and adults alike! There is also a model train museum near the train depot that is pretty cool. If you're an adult, there are certain nights you can take the train and end up at the Glen Blair Bar in the woods. The skunk train also has railbikes you can rent and go on an adventure through town. We haven't rented the railbikes yet, but it looks like fun!

There are SO many beautiful hikes in and around Fort Bragg. You can find many beach hikes, hikes through the redwood forest, and even through a pygmy forest! A quick google search or search on All Trails will give you lots of options, but we're also happy to make specific recommendations if you reach out to us!

Hiking

Fort Bragg is on the Mendocino coast, so the opportunity for beach walking or surfing is pretty much endless. The beaches are chilly, even in summer. But, oh, so beautiful! Some of our favorites are Glass Beach and Seaside Beach in Fort Bragg, which are also both very close to Grady's mom's house!

Beaches & Surfing

Fort Bragg may be a small town, but it has lots of bars and breweries! We will meet you all at Tall Guy Brewery on Friday, but other fun breweries are North Coast and Overtime. The bars in Fort Bragg all have pool tables and other fun games. The Golden West Saloon has pool tables, darts, and shuffle board!
